I didn't paint my daughter's helmet, but it sounds like your paint is too dry.

Can it be thinned with a little water?

found that it is very difficult! The paint dried uneven after 2 coats and is

streaky. One stroke of the brush put on color and the second stroke looks as if

it removed it. I'm afraid to continue without getting advice from some other

Moms. What paint did you use and did you experience this? Any other advice would

be helpful! Thanks so much! Lori

I painted my son's band. I followed the directions in the files to the left of

the screen. 1st I used a kilz primer on the entire band and let it dry. Then I

used acrylic paint. You can water it down, it will just need more coats. I

didn't water it down but I think I didn't have the same problem as you because I

used the primer--it helps to give it a textures surface not such a smooth one so

the paint will stick. Lastly I used a varnish to give it shine and protect the

paint. You can see the brush strokes from the acrylic when you are close to it,

but overall it came out very well even our technician at CT commented on how

well the paint job is.
