Guest guest
Hi all, I have been diligent about putting my 2 1/2 month son (who has severe plagio and tort) to bed with a rolled towel behind him to try and keep him on the correct side, but he consistently ends up with his head on the flat spot. Since he sleeps 16-18 hours a day still I'm concerned that the plagio will get worse. On one of the plagio websites I saw a Summer Infant Symmetry Sleep Positioner, but I haven't been able to purchase it on any sites and there aren't any posts about it since early 2010. I'm wondering if it's because they aren't safe? Is that why they aren't sold anymore? Anyone know anything about this?? Thanks!
Guest guest
We got one of those when our son was about 2.5 months old and it so didn't work. I think we used it one night and realized it was useless. He wouldn't keep his head one way, maybe because he had been (and still is at 15 months) in the 98th percentile for weight and height. The rolld up blanket worked better but it still couldn't overcome his stubbornness. The CT technician told us that most of their babies who aren't twins born with plagiocephaly and torticollis from the womb are big baby boys. So they are more difficult to reposition. Anyway, our 2 month girl old does a much better job at staying put when we reposition her head every time she sleeps and when we do tummy time, so we are hoping she doesn't need a helmet. She is much smaller than he is so that might explain her compliance with just a rolled up blanket behind her.
