New Flat Spot with Helmet?

My 11 month old son has been in his helmet for 5 weeks and the flattening on the right side of his head (which is why we got the helmet) is looking really good but suddenly, the back of his head looks very very flat. He never had any flattening on the back of his head before and I'm freaked out.

I called his orthodist and he said it could be from the plates in his head shifting and it would resolve itself in within a day or two. It's been like that since Tuesday, so we're nearly passed that point. I asked him what would happen if it didn't resolve itself and if the helmet could be CAUSING new flattening and he said he's never heard of that happening before. The helmet is definitely rounded and not flat where this flat spot is, so I'm so confused.
