Guest guest
we opted not to put our 2nd son in a helmet, we noticed it at 5 months or so but worked aggressively (and daycare) on limiting time on his back, in one spot etc. We also were in PT for torticollis. I also took photos every few weeks and was in lots of contact with our pediatrician. Fast forward to 2 1/2 years old. He still has very slight flattening on his upper left part of his head but is only noticable to us. very very mild. His plagio wasn't that bad but helmet clinic did recommend one. Here is my take: look at the research if your child is mild, there isn't really alot of data to show helmet is better for mild to even moderate plagio. It does improve it faster and may make it perfect but you have to balance that against time in helmet and cost (its a racket in my opinion). I'm in the health care field and had the fortunate relationships to seek a pedi cranial surgeons advice too. I'm happy with our decision but that being said we are going to helmet clinic for baby #3 (guess you just can't win sometimes) & his is worse that baby #2. (peditrician agreed). Good luck. > > Hi there, > > I am doing some research and would like to hear from parents who have decided not to use the helmet. What I would like to know is: > > 1.
