Guest guest
I am just starting the process of getting a helmet for my son (4.5 months) and we have Tricare insurance. After looking around in the database resource, I noticed Tricare has covered the device in some instances. Can anyone share specifics on how it was submitted to insurance/tricks to make this happen?!? I appreciate any feedback!
Guest guest
My experience with Cranial Tech... we went through a Neurologist who was very sweet and kind of fibbed for us to see if Tricare would cover it. He wrote a letter saying the helmet would be a good idea, because with one side of his forehead sticking out further than the other (he had the Plagiocephaly where his head looked like a lopsided oval from the top), it could effect his eye sight. The Neurologist told me this would very unlikely happen, but still wrote the letter to maybe sway Tricare to pay for it. Well, it didn't work, ha! Our Cranial Tech insurance admin lady told me she had never seen Tricare pay for a helmet. So, unfortunately, I highly doubt they will pay for it, but you can always try!! If they wont pay, though, I know that Cranial Tech will give you a military discount, and another nice discount if you pay upfront, in full. I wish you the best of luck!! :-) On Mar 4, 2011 2:54 PM, " aimee.segars " <aimee.segars@...> wrote:
Guest guest
Hi Aimee,We had to appeal Tricare and are still waiting, but I have all the documentation, case studies, etc if you'd like me to email them. I wish you the best of luck! It was worth every penny even though Tricare didn't assist. Fight the denial and see if one of the Relief Societies will assist you.Best, C.Mommy to Liam RhysDeformational Plagiocephaly and Bracycephaly Helmet Graduate - August 17, 2009Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: "aimee.segars" <aimee.segars@...>Sender: Plagiocephaly Date: Fri, 04 Mar 2011 21:46:00 -0000<Plagiocephaly >Reply Plagiocephaly Subject: TRICARE!
