Guest guest
she might have scaphocephaly. You can see the picture at this link (I think) http://cranialtech.com/index.php?option=com_content & view=article & id=317:online-a\ ssessment-step-1 & catid=95:my-babys-head-shape & Itemid=70 If the link doesn't work go to cranialtech.com, and My Babies Headshape then do the Online Assessment. The only " natural " way to reshape a scaphy head is to have her rest on the back of her head, but at 6 mo she probably won't stay that way. Helmets don't seem natural at first, but the band puts gentle pressure on the prominent area, which in turn redirects new growth to the flat areas as the head/brain grow. It isn't invasive, and can have amazing results. There are some places in NY although reviews are mixed. One place I remember the name of (from this group) is KidiSplint. I think they have a good reputation. I added NYC to the subject line in hopes that someone local can respond too. -christine sydney, 4 yrs, starband grad > > Hello > > I am new to this board. My daughter, Hermione, is 6.5 months old and her pediatrician told us at her 4 and 6 month checkup that she has a " pre-mie head " . She is a stomach sleeper so her left and her right are equally flat and her head is really long. > > here are my questions > > 1) I live in Manhattan and can't drive, so I can only take a subway. Where can I get a helmet? > > 2) Are there any " natural " ways I can reshape my baby's head? She hates sleeping in the stroller or in the baby carrier. The only way she will fall asleep is on her tummy. > > Thank you > Winnie > (Hermione 6.5 months) >
