Guest guest
The sooner you band the better results you will have. Remember that the process isn't instant. We started the process with our son at 7 mths and he didn't get his band until 8.5mths. We tryed everything we could and listened to our peds that it would correct itself and it just continued to get worse. We finally went to see a CT specialist because its a free consult and what can it hurt? We were told our son was severe just like we thought. Our PT told us that we were stepping into the process late and we will get results just not as good of results as if we would have gone earlier in our sons life. The CT website is a great website. They have pictures on their website of different types of Plagio, my husband was unsure until I went on the CT website and he saw the pictures of the Brachy baby and realized that yes this was our son and we did need to get it fixed! We are so happy we did it, his head looks great and we are so glad that we took our own advice and didn't listen to our peds that it would get better. After listening to a bunch of parents, it can go either way-it can get better and it can get worse. All myself or anyone on here can do is tell you our experiences and help you make an informed dicision based on these experiences. I went with my gut and pushed until my husband finally saw what I saw and then we went in. Our peds is out on maternity leave and still doesn't know that our son got a DOC band, another peds wrote the script for us...she is our new peds. All I can say is go with your gut, if you are unsure I believe they all offer free consults so what can it hurt? Good luck with your decision it is a hard one, I know you will do whats best! > > My son (8 mo next week) was diagnosed with mild/mod. plagio. THe neurosurgeon feels that it will correct itself. My husband and I will are on the fence on what to do. We will be repositioning him as much as possible and take weekly pictures to see if we see any change. At his 9 mo appointment we will then re-evaluate his head shape and decide if we need to band him. > > My question is will repositioning help? Guest guest
Hi heather, We also tried repositioning for a month, with the help of an OT - when our son was 5 months. It did nothing to correct the flatness. I was about to get his helmet ordered when I ran into someone at the mall who told me about CST with an Osteopath. We've gone twice now and I can see a difference in his head shape. It's not as different as I want, but we still have two more sessions. We will make the decision about the helmet when he turns 7 months in several weeks. My husband was skeptical of the CST too, but he did some research and found that lots of people have found success with it, and it can do no damage. Now he's even going to visit the Osteopath for some issues himself tomorrow! I would recommend finding someone who has a lot of training in CST, because you can just take a few classes and claim to be proficient in CST. Our Osteopath takes our insurance so we just pay the co-pay each time. Good luck to you! > > My son (8 mo next week) was diagnosed with mild/mod. plagio.
