We're not sure which type of helmet

Baby P. is need of helmet therapy. Our pediatrician recommends the passive

helmet used at Winston-Salem Baptist Hospital- which is over 2 hrs away( if we

really think it's necessary ) we wouldn't have to travel for fittings as often

with the passive prefab. type and it's much less expensive.

However, we first went for a Doc band evaluation at Cranial Tech in Charlotte,

NC yesterday (about 1 1/2 hrs away) because of positive reviews that we had

read. They were so kind and helpful and say she definitely would benefit from

wearing the band. Our insurance prob. will not cover expenses though.

Also, even though I realize the more wearing time the better results, summer

weather has arrived and we have plans for beach and a number of outdoor

activities. I guess I feel like maybe we should go with the prefab. even if it

takes a bit longer to correct, so she can take it off a little more often in

extreme outdoor heat-etc. I wouldn't have to worry about the prefab helmet being

outgrown as quickly too. I've read numerous articles, and I'm not so worried

about looks of the helmet to others (although of course don't look forward to

the stares) I worried about her sweating and being miserable this summer!

Please give advice-she will be 6 months old June 30th- we really need to start

soon.

I know DOC bands are great, but I'd like to hear from anyone who used a prefab

passive helmet and if it did the job.
