Guest guest
Hi wc5! The Myoplex shakes serve as meal replacements within the 6 meal structure, and are formulated differently than fruit juice. Assuming that you use them as intended (2 or 3 a day, each in place of a meal) you will be fine. RiboForce falls into a different category; that's a supplement, not a meal replacement. For details on all the EAS products, you can visit the EAS web site at www.eas.com An unofficial support site, well worth visiting for its information, is the Hussman site. There is information on RiboForce and other key EAS supplements there. At that site you will also find good information on the physiology of " Why the Body-for-LIFE Program Works. " You will find that site at www.hussman.com/eas Best of fortune to you in your efforts! Healthfully,
Guest guest
Sounds like you're on your way due to your good organizational skills. Glad the first week was successful and hope you have many more successful weeks. I saw results in week 3 but I wasn't overweight just overfat. I couldn't understand why I had so much fat because I ran 3-4 miles a day 4 or 5 days a week. And lo, it was because I wasn't eating clean. I wish you much success. Post your progress often. I can't answer about the pics. All I have are afters. Stasia
Guest guest
Congratulations on 1 week down! > After all that, my questions for the group are as follows: > 1. What has been everyones common breakdown of protein, carbs, and > fat? I try to stick to a roughly 40/40/20 breakdown. I really try to do fist size portions for carb and palm for protein. I haven't made the time to put my nutrition data into fitday for awhile. I should to see how I am doing. > 2. When did everyone start to see results? I started seeing results by the first four weeks. Major results, though towards the end of the 12 weeks. Everyone is different though, you might see results quickly or you might have a lot of internal results happening that you don't see. In the beginning, I thought the best way to gauge results was by my clothes fit. The looser they were, the more things were happening. I also continuously tried on a pair of shorts that were too small from the beginning to see how they changed in fit. > 3. How often did everyone take pictures for the stages? I took photos every 4 to 5 weeks. HTH, Kathleen

Guest guest
40/40/20 give or take a bit is a good breakdown for meals. I don't calculate my nutritional stats on a daily basis, but I usually end up around there. I would err on the side of protein (maybe 45% protein to 35% carbs) if you have a lot of fat to lose. That works for me. You'll see a lot of bloat disappear the first week, but most of that is water break. Don't panic if you temporarily get bigger; you might gain muscle before you lose the fat. That happened to me, and I freaked out, but, ultimately, you want the muscle; it'll help burn more fat in the long run. Most ladies see tangible results about six weeks into the program. I didn't take pictures at all when I first did this, and I really regret it now. This time I took pictures at the beginning, but I'm not planning on taking them again until I'm at my goal weight and size (which will probably take longer than 12 weeks). That's just me. I also hid my before picture in a drawer and haven't looked at it for weeks. It was just so depressing. I know a lot of ladies find the before picture motivating, so you just have to figure out what works for you. I took one look at my flabby self and screamed (literally). You'd been taking Celexa for a long time, and you're always going to feel much better on a medicine that your body is already used to. Guest guest
Hi Jill! First of all, don't panic! Could be a million things...are you close to TOM/PMS? Did you also add in exercise this week? (<- if yes, could be your muscles holding onto lots of water due to a change in routine) Did you drink loads of water the day you weighed in (or the day before)? Really, it's probably just water weight. I think you should give yourself a HUGE pat on the back for following the plan to the letter! That's fantastic! It was really hard for me that first week--in fact, I think I cheated a few times and had an extra yogurt or glass of milk because I was so hungry. For what it's worth, I started Craig last August and I was 5'8 " & 338-ish pounds. They had me on 2300 calories and I *did* lose at the rate of about 2 pounds a week. Then some stuff happened here and we just couldn't afford the food, so I had to quit. Shortly thereafter I started doing it on my own, using the calorie counts off caloriesperhour.com--might be worth typing your info into their BMR/RMR calculator just to see what they say you should be eating. (They give you the count for maintenence, though, so subtract 500-700 from their total so that you'll be losing.) As for WW, I do think they are a little lower on calories. Um, I want to say I was supposed to stay around 34 points (I could be way off here), and that works out to about 1700 calories. But I wasn't happy on WW--always hungry. I just need more. *shrugs* And I think would also have you on about 2000 a day, but I'm sure someone with an actual FoodMover in front of them will give you correct information if I'm wrong As for your doctor suggesting 900 calories a day...that would cause a very quick drop in weight the first week or two, and then I'm pretty sure your body would go into starvation mode. My gosh, my 2 1/2 year old eats more than that! You didn't say how old you are...is there a chance you're nearing peri-menopause? Have you done a lot of low calorie diets in the past that could have messed up your metabolism? Most importantly, focus on the positive--YOU DID IT, lady! Okay, so if you poke around online (caloriesperhour.com ; sparkspeople.com) and find that you need fewer calories than what JC is giving you, then talk to your consultant about it. Now that you've followed this for a week, do you feel like you had to make some different choices in what you eat? Do you feel like you ate less this week? My first week was a shocker for me...I must've been plowing through 3400+ calories a day before starting it because 2300 felt like nothing. Anyway, hang in there. I know you're really frustrated, and anyone would be, but don't give up. I know that the more I stress out and worry about things, the less my body is willing to let go of weight. Could you set aside a couple minutes in the morning (first thing) and before bed to just relax? Maybe gentle stretches and some happy thoughts? Let us know what happens when you meet with your consultant today! Good luck! -Bonnie

Excellent job on sticking to Craig for a week. Sorry it's so frustrating to not see the scale move. Can you please challenge yourself to stay exactly on program for the whole 6 weeks? 1 week just isn't enough time. After 6 weeks you can be extremely proud of yourself for sticking to 2000 calories and you can decide if you need to ditch the program, reduce your calories or whatever. You weigh 329 pounds. You should be able to lose lots of weight on 2000 calories. You just have to stick with it. Your doctor is on crack if he wants you to stay at 900 calories without the aid of surgery. Can you walk or get some exercise in? Ann
Guest guest
first week hi everyone, Just checking in after my first week of doing Craig. I am VERY disappointed after one week of eating exactly on plan, not putting one bite in my mouth that was not on the plan...I have lost 0 pounds! Exactly the same! I have NEVER been on a diet that I followed and not lost the first week! When I was on WW I lost 10 pounds the first week. I think I am going to see if I can find out what calorie level WW would have me on. I can't remember now, what calorie level does suggest? I am 329. 5'9''.I punched your stats into calorie King and it suggested 1980 calories. Anyway, Craig has me on 2000 calories which I feel is entirely too much! My doctor suggested 900. I agree with the whoever else it was(sorry I don't remember) 900 calories seems mighty low. However until I joined here I had never heard of many people on a 2000 calorie diet either. I had always heard of 1200 and 1500 calorie diets. And in extreme cases 1800.They seem to be the most used. Since joining here I have heard of many on a 2000 or more. For me personally I don't think there is even a possibily of me losing weight on a 2000 calorie diet.I believe I have to have mine under 1800 to lose and it would be slow. I think 1500 would be best for me. Its just a matter of me doing it:(.I think all of us is different and what works for one isn't gonna work for another.I meet with my consultant this morning, so we'll see what she has to say. If I don't loose again this next week I don't think I will continue with JC. Glad now I only signed up for the 6 week trial! Guest guest
When I started out what I did for the first couple of weeks was to log everything I ate. Didn't count calories, etc. Just wanted to see what I was eating & how much. You might want to try doing that. Once you get an idea of what you are eating, start by taking off maybe 200 calories a day for a week or two. Each week you can take another 200 calories off each day. If you are/were eating 2800 a day, your body is used to it. Aim for 2500 calories a day for awhile and see what happens. When you are ready -- aim for 2000 calories. You will know when that time happens. How much exercise are you doing? For me that is the key. I need to exercise and move. Without out that -- nothing will happen. Guest guest
Sorry to hear your first week at JC was disappointing.... SparkPeople could tell you their recommended calorie range. 2000 seems reasonable to me. I weigh 285 basically and according to spark, I should be hitting 1700-1900 a day.... How's your water intake and exercise? Retention (TOM?) On their plan, you are eating "their food" I assume, how is it for sodium? I would definately talk with them and see if they need to tweak your program a little, don't get too discouraged yet!!
Guest guest
Hi everyone! Thanks for all of the great replys! Somehow I did manage to loose 2 pounds between the time I got up and the time I officially weighed in. I think because I really pumped up the water Tuesday afternoon. My consultant told me to only drink 64 oz. Well... do to my poor math skills I was only drinking 48 oz when I thought I was hitting 64 oz! Then the more I thought about it the more I realized even 64 oz was not enough. So I have now upped it to 80 oz a day. Also my consultant told me not to worry about doing any exercise last week, so of course I did'nt! Anyway this week I start with the exercise and already did a 30 minute dvd yesterday and am going to do another 30 minutes in just a few minutes. So I am feeling better about things and am pumped for another week with hopefully a better loss! Thanks for all of the support! I AM going to do it this time! Failure is not an option! Guest guest
Great Job, dannocat! I too just started with IOWL and am diligently listening to podcasts as often as possible. It's interesting how this program sorta fell into our laps, so to speak -- searching in iTunes for *something* and found a program that's so rewarding. I look at food and exercise differently and often think " how will this make me feel OVER TIME? " That's been a big motivator for me. Keep up the good work. Guest guest
Hi, I am new to this group but our son has recently been fitted with a Hanger Band and finished his first week today. What is a normal amount of head adjustment in a week's time? I didn't think to ask at the appointment this morning. She told us that he had corrected 2mm. But I don't know if we should expect that every week. Thanks in advance for any and all input.
Guest guest
I believe that in cases of plagiocephaly (specifically asymmetrical flat head, as opposed to brachycephaly), there is a distinct type of improvement, " angular conformance, " which ideally would only impact early measurements. The skull is more or less flexible at the sutures and especially around fontanelles, and so can be directly shaped by outside force, regardless of growth. Remove the helmet contact, however, and the shape would likely revert quickly. (So, if your treatment goal had been 2 mm of correction, it would be foolish to discard the helmet immediately.) However, any new skull plate grown while the head is being held in the more ideal shape will be relatively rigid, and along the lines of the new shape, and thus contribute to more stable improvement. This is the commonly acknowledged therapeutic effect of helmets, which I call " circumferential conformance. " I think manufacturers are hesitant to speak of torquing the skull plates because it implies a danger of brain damage. Some would probably prefer to keep their trade secrets, also, since the quality of angular conformance would be a precondition of ultimate results. So we're stuck with " active " and " passive " labels that even the orthotists don't seem to understand. But if anything, I think the acute effect of angular conformance is beneficial. Clara often seemed better behaved when her head looked its best, as if she were literally being " straigtened out.
