It might depend upon your insurance coverage and what is available in your area.  We had a STARband provider and a Hanger provider nearby but our insurance (Kaiser, Northern California) had a contracted rate with the STARband provider so that is who the doctor wrote the prescription for.  He may have been open to writing a prescription for one of the other band but if we had gone to Hanger or even travelled to CT the cost of the band would not have been covered.
