Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I am new here...been lurking for a few days. My daughter will be 4 months old on the 12th of July and has a moderately mishapen head in the terms of our physical therapist (she is a twin...and it's probably a result of intrauterine restriction...she was the one that was 'stuck' most of the time). It is pushing her right ear and right forehead forwards and we have been repositioning since 2 month appt. She does not have any visual assymetry to the eyes or the cheek bones though. We were referred to a craniofacialist at Riley and i have been in discussion with both a Starband provider in Indianapolis and a Cranial Tech facility in the Chicago suburbs. The Cranial tech facility said at her age she would require weekly adjustments. The starband provider said after her first week appt (after the adjustment period) she would come back monthly. That is quite a difference...the orthotist for the starband helmet has 2 years experience (i have spoken with him personally). What do you all think of this? Is a monthly adjustment period for a child this age too far out...or is the weekly adjustment period just too much? We have our eval with the starband provider next week (they are doing a home visit with the scanner even) and I would really like to go to the cranial tech for an eval and meet them too. Cranial Tech provider would be about an hour more of a drive (1 1/2 vs. 2 1/2 hours). My parents have offered to help with the drives... Both are covered under our insurance. Thanks for your advice ahead of time!
