Guest guest
I am very surprised that Hanger did not suggest a helmet at 10 mm, or at least tell you that you could choose to get a helmet. The measurement is not as bad as many babies, but she still does have plagiocephaly. You should have the choice to treat her or not. From the pictures, I notice that your beautiful Bella has a head shape like my son's. He has 11 mm of asymmetry. I am getting him a DOC Band. I also see that Bella's ears are uneven, but her eyes look close to symmetrical. My son's eyes are very uneven, so you are lucky! I brought my son to a neurosurgeon at Yale who I thought was very good. I will tell you the advice my son's neurosurgeon gave since your daughter has similar measurements. He said that we did not have to use a helmet and some of the asymmetry would go away, but it would still be noticeable. If we use the helmet, he said the head shape would get about 80% better in 3 months. He said it was our choice since my son's head was not likely to cause problems with his jaw. So, if you want to get a helmet/band for your daughter, go ahead. I probably would if I were you. But, if you don't want to get the helmet/band, don't feel badly about it. You will not be hurting her. Here is another band maker's site. You can check and see if they are nearby. http://www.orthomerica.com/technology/scan_locations.htm You could also try going back to Hanger and see if they will make the helmet even though they didn't recommend it. Good luck! > > > > Dear all, my baby girl Bella was found of plagio and brach from her 2 months old. We continously used the repositional stratagy to try to correct it and it do looks better right now. However, I still think its quite severe, since there still be a big spot of flat and we can see the facial asymmestry from mirror. > > > > We mentioned that from her 3 months old and her ped never think about it seriously. He always told us her head will round out itself gradually. We also got a free evaluation from hanger but they also do not suggest helmet treatment. Unfotunataly, we do not have a docband closeby. > > > > I put she sleep on her tummy from her 5.5 month old and hope it will help. But now she just roll over all around the crib. I don't know what I can do except waitting for the time. > > Could you please give me some suggestions about that and tell me is the ped tell us the truth or not? Thanks a lot! > > > > By the way, the pictures are named by the date which I capture them. > > >
