Guest guest
We did see a cranio-facial specialist about my daughter's head and had x-rays to confirm what he thought he saw/felt. The metopic suture is closing a bit early. Good news at the moment is that we don't need surgery right now but the bad news is that we caught it early enough that we don't know how fast the suture is closing. We have a re-evaluation in 2 months or 4-6 weeks if we get another band. As for the other prominent lumps and bumps, the specialist said they are more prominent than normal but nothing to worry over and that they should continue to smooth out with age and growth. We have less than 4 weeks (Cranial Tech says 4 weeks the Cranio-facial doctor said 2 weeks) left in our DOCband and have already started the insurance process to find out if they will cover a second band for " further correction of facial asymmetry and mild plagiocephaly " . The pictures that Cranial Tech took this week as opposed to the ones just 3 weeks ago show that the Cranio-facial doctor is right in that the prominent lumps will smooth out and we could already see that happening with the most obvious lump. I would really like to go with a second band because I know I will just be kicking myself later for not doing absolutely everything I could possibly do to help my daughter but I also know that financially I probably just can't afford it if insurance doesn't cover the band.
