Guest guest
, Here is some info. I have picked up at different Celiac sites. I haven't been to Disneyland since going g/f but there seem to be some good options. Good Luck! Disneyland Tips: 3/2003 We got back yesterday - what a success. It was so easy to eat there - my uncle called the chef ahead of time and was told g/f could be prepared anywhere in disneyland. We had lots of snacks from vendors and ate dinner at the mexican/bbq place in Frontierland. My daughter and uncle had chicken, my cousin and I had cheese enchiladas and beef tacos, my mom had nachos, my little daughter had tacos. No one got sick - and my older daughter and uncle are super sensitive. There is plenty of fruit available at Disney - several different kinds. And Mc D's french fries are there too. There is plenty - I brought food in but we didn't even need it (they let you bring it in if you have special needs). It might be worth bringing in fruit - it was $1.75 for an apple! But at least you could get apples, oranges, grapes, bananas and pinapple. Orville Reddenbocker popcorn, g/f hot dogs (no bun), cotton candy and ice cream were some of the snacks we ate. They are really good about answering questions too - my mom asked the manager of the mexican place about MSG in the cheese sauce - and she said they don't use MSG in ANYTHING because they know people are sensitive to it - and they cooked the fries there seperate too. 9/2002 I hope you have a wonderful, uneventful vacation here in Southern California. Henry's and Whole Foods are two of the best places to shop for GF foods here and they are everywhere. Most Von's and Albertson stores have specialty food sections that have basic GF foods. Since going GF, we eat in most of the time but have found that besides Taco Bell, my daughter's favorite place to eat, most of the local restaurants are very helpful if you explain to them that you are "allergic to wheat". On coast highway in Encinitas, we enjoy BIG JIM'S bar-b-q. Disneyland:Call chef and have a paper and pencil ready. You will most likely leave a message, but he will call back within 24 to 48 hours. My favorites are the Mcs fry carts. All they have are fries and Cokes. In the Red Rocket Pizza Port, let chef know you are interested in having some of the rice noodles sent over from a different restaurant in the park. The marinara sauce is GF and very tasty. Disneyland Hotel:Goofy's Kitchen - If you are there on a package deal which includes a character breakfast, do it here. Call the day before and they will prepare GF Panrty waffles and pancakes. There are more GF mixes in the store room as well. Just call ahead. Downtown Disney: Rainforest Cafe - WONDERFUL - Again, upon arrival, Asked for the chef. The Store manager, arrived at our table with chef Rick Winoman.(sp?) After explaining me "allergy," they responded with saying "we have some regular customers with celiac, and we are also aware of cross-contamination." I wish I had gone there before our last night!!! San Diego the Whole Foods Market labels alot of the gf food they carry - that was a great idea i'm passing along to my local WFM. We encountered no difficulty in bringing food into the places we visited - Disneyland, Cal.Adv., Legoland, SD Zoo, etc. We flew United and ordered vegetarian plates and fruit plates and between the four of us divvied up the gf v. ngf so the kids had plenty of food. Disney’s California 1/04 Kinnikinnick in the Magic Kingdom: Kinnikinnick Products are now available at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The hotel is now stocking our baked products and you'll be able to special order. Talk to your server or the dining room manager. If you go to the Grand California Hotel, ask for chef . Disney sent him to attend the Gluten Free Living conference in San Diego last September. He should be able to help. As another post mentioned, they have kinnikinnick available and I'm sure many more selections.
