Guest guest
Is Cafe Mariposa related to the Mariposa baking company that makes those delicious brownies and biscotti that are sold at stores? Either way, this is very exciting... I can't wait to check it out when I'm visiting the Bay Area. -- Gluten-Free By The Bayhttp://glutenfreebay.blogspot.com

Guest guest
Cafe Mariposa is currently open at 5427 Telegraph Ave around the side in unit D3. They have parking and are open from 8 am to 4 pm (although the official opening is not until Monday, June 11 and the grand opening will be in July) I just had a lovely cup of coffee and tried all their gluten free, dairy free goodies and admired the gluten free with dairy ones. Beautiful and luscious!! As good or better than what those other people (the gluten eaters) eat! Besides the biscotti and brownies that you can get at the grocery, Patti and her staff are making lemon squares, chocolate chip cookies, morning buns, blueberry muffins and something else I'm forgetting at the moment. You can buy the larger packs right there or get take out or relax at one of their tables The cafe is on the site of the commercial bakery and is a dedicated space (it never was a kitchen before this so NO cross contamination!) They are still working out some of the details of a cafe and are quite open to suggestions. You can reach them at the Mariposa website - www.mariposabaking.com or stop in, get a goodie and make a suggestion!! They are as organic as they can be and still provide good value (they use organic for some of the flours but some of the ingredients are just too hard to find at a reasonable price for organic). They know what is in each item and can tell you! The spoons, etc. are made of potato starch (not corn). Patti Furey Crane, one of the partners, told me that they want to add savory items based on " I can eat that " baked goods - pannini perhaps as well as other breakfast and lunch items but it will depend on demand - so go and be the demand so Patti and partners can supply it!! And say hi to Rory, our friend and the professional pastry chef! They are on Telegraph between 51st and 55th in North Oakland across the street from the Chevron station. There is MOCHA in front and they are around to the right just past the new wine shop. The building is an old brick Art Deco building with a Volvo shop in the rear. They are next to Leo's Audio. All this is close to where Rt.24 crosses over Telegraph. If you are coming from the hills or the tunnel, get off on the Telegraph Ave exit and turn left for 2 blocks. Connie

Guest guest
Ok- I take it back, there might be a way, but given how long it would take me to do that from Mountain View, I'll never end up going unless she's open on a weekend and DH and I can make a day trip of it. There are several things I'd like to do in that area, actually- Chocolates opened a store location in the Oakland area recently as well. Thank you for the info, though. It sounds like a good option for more local customers. - > > > > Please do let her know- Even just an afternoon on Saturday would be > > great. Guest guest
Yay! Thank you Patti- I'm so excited. One of our favorite things to do on weekends is go to gluten free cafes, so we will definitely make a special trip out of it! Good luck and I look forward to trying your baked goods! - > > > > > > > > Please do let her know- Even just an afternoon on Saturday would be > > > > great. Guest guest
Hi Hanna, Patti, I live in Moraga and would love to come to Cafe Mariposa. I'm quite happy that you are there! It would be helpful , though, if you always listed your address and phone number when you send emails; I poured through the emails and couldn't find your address. I think people would be more motivated to check you out if you listed that information on all your correspondences. Thanks, Caryn Gottfried ----- Original Message ----- From: Hanna Kapitulnik Sent: Friday, June 08, 2007 8:00 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Cafe Mariposa - coffeehouse with gluten-free goodies opening in Oakland! hijust went with my daughter today.
