Zantac is GF and works really well. My celiac daughter used it until

she needed something stronger. She's now taking Protonix, a

prescription. There's no warning on the bottle not to take it when

you're pregnant. I myself got a HORRIBLE stomachache when I tried some

probiotics from Whole Foods. I switched to Kefir. Good luck!

If you don't need something really strong, I thought Tums was OK. Am I wrong? SharonDebbie Duncan <debbiedunc@...> wrote: Zantac is GF and works really well. I had lots of heartburn (acid reflux) with

both of my pregnancies. I was told it had to do with hormones causing

relaxation of muscles and ligaments in preparation for the birth.

Unfortunately, the opening of the esophagus is one of the things that gets

relaxed and opens up, then your uterus starts to press on your stomach and the

combination is what causes the problem. Every time I bent over, I had

acid reflux. It was awful. I’m afraid I don’t’

have much to offer except sympathy (I tried Tums and some enzymes, but never

found anything that worked, unless you count giving birth). At that time

I wasn’t as informed about natural remedies or supplements, so there

could be something new out there that works. I think it did help to stay

away from spicy and greasy foods, just because it kept the stomach acid from

burning as much.

Good luck, and just keep thinking about

the baby at the end of the misery; perhaps this is nature’s way of

helping you to look forward to giving birth?
