Guest guest
It probably isn't realistic to expect stores to do that, but one thing we can do (and many of us do, I'm sure) is to thank local stores for stocking GF items, either in person or writing, which will encourage them to continue and hopefully expand their collection. BTW, don't forget Rainbow in SF. It has a fairly large selection of GF items -- though the store is vegetarian. I haven't tried them (i believe they are cooked in the toaster); FYI for all of you that need a quick, easy breakfast. Speaking of new products, does anyone know if any of the stores celiacs frequent (TJs, Whole Foods, Real Foods, etc.) have a way to notify celiacs of new GF foods in stock? The reason I ask is that if I weren't part of this list, I would have no idea what products can be found where and/or when new products are added to store inventory. Recieving a form email from TJs that GF pancakes are now available would be so helpful; I realize that this may not be at the top of their (or any store's) list so I thought I would put this question out there to find out if any of you know of any stores providing such a service. Guest guest
I believe the only way to receive notice of new GF products is to form a relationship with someone at the store, preferably the Store Manager or the Regional buyers for your partcular store. Ask these people for their work emails and forward posts. It's actually pretty easy to get contact info for Regional store reps. Grocery stores routinely receive all kinds of requests for all kinds of items. As you probably know, competition for shelf space is keen in the grocery industry, GF or not. When I ask for a particular item, I always promise to buy at least a case. In fact, many times, if you go directly to the manufacturer, you can get a better deal because there might be a volume discount. Good Luck!Get a sneak peak of the all-new AOL.com. Guest guest
Now that wouldn't be a bad idea; getting several of us in the same area doing a buying " co-op " . We order large quantities, split the cost and dole it out. Kinda like a Celiac Costco.
