Guest guest
Sounds like we are Southern California beach rats, but we aren't. However, we were visiting in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach in June. Yes, there is a Henry's in both Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, but the one in Costa Mesa is a real disappointment. For my money, skip Henry's and visit Mother's. The prices are lower at Mother's and the selection is way better. Henry's is trying to be " your neighborhood market " with Sara Lee meat products handing on the peg and Orowheat bread on display. You get the idea. Mother's is on 17th Street in Costa Mesa, not far from Panera. In addition to Mother's salads and soups (some GF) Panera also has GF items. Check the Panera website or the ingredients list in the store. I didn't check for New Grist beer at Mother's. If Mother's doesn't carry it, maybe there could be a reason to go to Henry's. I found the same situation in Oceanside/Encitas/Carlsbad earlier this week. The local stores are way better: Bony's in Oceanside and Jimbo's in Carlsbad.
