NOTE ON THE STANFORD CELIAC CONFERENCE:

Rohlfs has announced that she is unable to

offer the 8th annual celiac conference at Stanford

this year. Due to construction projects on campus

the facility used in the past is no longer available,

and she has not been able to identify other options.

will continue to work with the Celiac Sprue

Research Foundation and offer support when needed,

but she has requested that others take over the

responsibilities of organizing celiac events in the

Palo Alto/Stanford area.

We thank for her many years of volunteer

work for the Bay Area Celiacs and for organizing

the Stanford Conference for 7 years, beginning in

2000, as well as many meetings and events that

brought celiacs together for information, friendship,

and of course gluten free food!

Link to local recipes:

Vic Dolcourt of Sunnyvale

writes that he and his wife

Hallie (not a celiac) are always happy to talk to people

and meet them. Vic likes to bake bread and shares

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

MBA students at Wharton (University

of Pennsylvania) are

working on a project developing food and beverage products

for celiacs. They have asked for our participation in a survey.

The survey will help a company specializing in Quinoa and

Amaranth based gluten free products decide what products

to introduce next. The survey is entirely confidential and takes

about 10 minutes to complete. Go to the following link and

follow instructions. There is a chance to win a $20 Starbucks

gift card if you complete the survey and enter the lucky draw.

MESSAGE FROM DANNA KORN, R.O.C.K. FOUNDER

As many of you know, People Magazine is doing a story about

celiac disease, and featuring some of the work I've done to

help people live (and love!) a gluten-free lifestyle.

Are there any of you who I've helped who have not yet responded

to me? If I've helped you in any way -- my books, on the phone,

through ROCK, speaking engagements -- please let me know

TODAY -- they're wrapping the story up today and tomorrow.

THANK YOU!

Danna (Wed, April 25)

NOTE TO ALL BAY AREA CELIACS:

This mailing list was established many years ago, long before

Martha arrived in CA (and the internet) to connect celiacs living

in the San Francisco

region. There have been so many dedicated

volunteers working to help others learn the wonderful mysteries

of the gluten free diet, and we thank them all. As we all know,

our disease has become more popular, and new people are

joining us all the time. We welcome the enthusiasm of the

newly diagnosed and we encourage all of you interested in

making contributions to our local celiac community to contact

any of the people listed below to ask about opportunities to

volunteer. Of course any of you can decide to organize a

meeting or social gathering, and it can be announced in this

news....but it may be easier to arrange to work with others.

We do have someone working on bringing our web site up to

date, and we have heard from new people who want to start

groups. Many thanks! We look forward to new excitement

in our Bay Area Celiac world....in medical research, in new

eating adventures, and in new friendships among celiacs!
