Due to construction projects on campus the facility used in the past is no longer available, and she has not been able to identify other options. will continue to work with the Celiac Sprue Research Foundation and offer support when needed, but she has requested that others take over the responsibilities of organizing celiac events in the Palo Alto/Stanford area. FOUNDER As many of you know, People Magazine is doing a story about celiac disease, and featuring some of the work I've done to help people live (and love!) a gluten-free lifestyle. Are there any of you who I've helped who have not yet responded to me? If I've helped you in any way -- my books, on the phone, through ROCK, speaking engagements -- please let me know TODAY -- they're wrapping the story up today and tomorrow. THANK YOU! Danna (Wed, April 25) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE TO ALL BAY AREA CELIACS: This mailing list was established many years ago, long before Martha arrived in CA (and the internet) to connect celiacs living in the San Francisco region. There have been so many dedicated volunteers working to help others learn the wonderful mysteries of the gluten free diet, and we thank them all. As we all know, our disease has become more popular, and new people are joining us all the time. We welcome the enthusiasm of the newly diagnosed and we encourage all of you interested in making contributions to our local celiac community to contact any of the people listed below to ask about opportunities to volunteer. Of course any of you can decide to organize a meeting or social gathering, and it can be announced in this news....but it may be easier to arrange to work with others. We do have someone working on bringing our web site up to date, and we have heard from new people who want to start groups. Many thanks! We look forward to new excitement in our Bay Area Celiac world....in medical research, in new eating adventures, and in new friendships among celiacs! ************************** Local Celiac Contacts: Oakland Ellen Switkes, 510-655-0215, ellen@...
