Guest guest
There is a new celiac support group in Marin. They had a meeting yesterday morning at Flour Chylde in Novato. I didn't find out about it until too late, but I am passing on this report with the permission of the group leader. Her name is and she can be reached at Bel@... if you're interested. Trudy Subject: Celiac Meeting Today Good Evening, Today nine fellow Celiacs met at Flour Chylde in Novato and a great time was had by all. We introduced ourselves, discussed our diagnosis (or lack there of), and shared tips about where to eat and what we would like to do in the future. Much laughter was shared and it felt good to talk about our collective needs. Our next meeting is set for Saturday, June 2nd at Flour Chylde at 10AM. We also plan to meet in August (Date TBD) and attend the Stanford Celiac Conference (hope to carpool) in September. Our group is open to any Celiac in Marin (and beyond). Short Notes from the Meeting: Triumph Cards are great to use in restaurants. Katja is starting a blog about dining as a Celiac called Celiacgourmet.com and has a great contact in Germany that bakes really great bread. She is trying to help bring items to the US. Paradise Foods and Whole Foods in San now carries Grindstone Bread (many of us sampled this at the Stanford 06 conference). Look in the fresh bread section at Whole Foods, it is a heavy brown round loaf, about the size of a small cantelope. Pasta Pomodoro has a gluten-free pasta that is made from chickpeas (mixed reviews about the taste!) PF Changs and Outback Steakhouse both have Gluten-free menus (PF Changs is coming to Corte Madera very soon). There is a Celiac Kids Camp held in August looking for Volunteers, contact Geri for more info. See Below for more info about the Stanford Celiac Clinic and Dr. Gail Pyle. Many thanks for all who attended, we have a great start and I look forward to meeting more in the next few months. – Belingheri PS Feel free to add on to this email with further comments on any information that I may have missed!
