I was just surprised with a very generous gift card to Whole Foods, a

place I very rarely go to anymore because everything I'm making

(financially) is being used to pay off my dreaded student loans.

So I'll ask what you all would pick up there - perhaps that you can't

find anywhere else. I live in Hill and we have a TJs where I

shop often. Other than that I do most of my basic grocery shopping at

Safeway or Walmart.

I'm not a big sweets fan, but I do love salt, if that helps with

suggestions. Nothing else to beware of, but I am allergic to bananas

and raw carrots.

Any suggestions would be great. I have $100 to spend.

You ask how to use a gift certificate for Whole Foods:

Their Bakehouse GF Prairie Bread is extremely good, as are their other Bakehouse items. However, unless you have a freezer, you can't amass any quantity of this bread! It molds fairly quickly.

My non-CD family loves it, too.

Every Whole Foods has a customer service desk. When you arrive to cash in your WF gift card you can certainly request a gluten-free tour of the store before making your selections. Whole Foods is an excellent source for GF items beyond the GF baked goods.

GF Salsa, soy sauce, salad dressings, power/snack bars, chips, snacks, cereals and more are always available at Whole Foods.

Good Luck.

I get xanthan gum, and sometimes, GF cereal at WF. (I can no longer

eat the corn-based Envirokids which I used to get at TJ's). Sometimes

alternative flours, if they seem cheap enough (or uncontaminated

enough), but usually not. Pretty much everything else is available

elsewhere for cheaper.

If you go to the Los Altos store, they have a large selections of frozen baked goods over near the bakery. WF has a dedicated GF bakery and they ship frozen goodies out to the stores. Being WF, it's not cheap, but a nice treat. We regularly get their hamburger buns. The pizza crusts are also good. Haven't tried the coffee cakes, muffins or pies - my son hates fruit. Cookies are good.I also get quinoa pasta there, which I prefer to rice. There's also a section in snack foods of GF stuff - Pam's cookies, etc.I don't know if the baked goods are as extensive at other WFs - it isn't in PA, but that's a very small store.piglet95037 <csilverstein@...> wrote: I was just surprised with a very generous gift card to Whole Foods, a place I very rarely go to anymore because everything I'm making (financially) is being used to pay off my dreaded student loans.
