Guest guest
Unfortunately for us, there aren't any Pei Wei (Pay Way) Aisan Diners in the Bay Area, but since we are vacationing in Southern California, we were able to locate one nearby in the town we are staying in - Carlsbad near San Diego. Pei Wei is an operation run by PF Changs. Whether you are a regular diner at PF Changs (I'm not.), Pei Wei's is considerably different. This one was noisy, fun, fast moving, and filled with families for Saturday lunch. The Pei Wei website offers four entrees suitable for Celiacs. I selected one that required no modification - order straight off of the menu. The other three require omitting vegetables, crunchy things, or sauces. There was pleanty of good tasting food in the form of a nice, interesting salad with an ample amount of large chicken pieces, crunchy rice noodles, and a vinagarette with bits of hot pepper (one click above mild). Then top this off with a Southern California favorite - Golden Spoon frozen yogurt. You have to go to another shopping center for that. We can only hope that Pei Wei moves north!
