Guest guest
Thanks to a tip from someone on this board, we ended up dining at the one in Ghiardhelli Square last weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Someone had mentioned to contact Chef Mike before hand, so I did. His mom has celiac disease, and he knew exactly what needed to be done. He came out to meet us and we discussed her options right on the spot. They do have many GF options, and he made my 14 year old a meal so good she ate the entire thing (Shrimp, salmon and halibut over spanish rice). Then he brought out a special dessert, I think it was the chocolate torte, covered in whipped cream and garnished with lots of berries....she ate the whole thing! She almost cried, I almost cried, and Chef Matt almost cried! On top of that, he comped the meal! I think he was so happy to have made a childs day (she hasnt eaten cake like that since her diagnosis 2 years ago). She asked the waitress to take her back to the kitchen so she could thank him personally, and of course we left him a big tip. He said all the M & S's can accomodate us, and gave us the name of the chef for the one closer to us (downtown San ). We will definitely be going. It was an amazing experience.
