Guest guest
Hi, Everyone.........I am bummed tonight.......seems trivial compared to and others though. Had Gareth in today for his stomach aches. The Raglan and Zantax don't seem to be working for his GERD. His Dr. ordered blood tests for the bacteria that causes ulcers and the Celiac Panel (whatever blood work that means). I know a lot of you have kids on gluten free diets, but I just don't know how I would accomplish that. Will keep you all posted when results come in. Thanks , Everyone. Margaret >> Margaret, I'm sorry the reglan is not working. This is our final attempt for Maddie and it seems to be working (although I think we may need to up the meds since the last couple weeks I can smell on her breath that she's been refluxing----I am bummed because we were supposed to start weaning, not upping). It's good that they're doing the celiac screening. Maddie had that and they went ahead and did the biopsy, which turned out negative. We were so convinced, I had read up a storm on celiac and joined the celiac listserv, had myself all worked up. Turned out to be chronic GERD. We also found out shortly after that that she has hypothyroidism. So it doesn't necessarily mean that Gareth does have it. Cross that bridge if and when you come to it!! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Donna

Her blood work even indicated celiac, but then > the biopsy was negative. Donna, now THAT would really be strange!!! Dr. Capone said to get to a GI doctor and maybe they would do a biopsy of the small intestine to check for inflammation.....the way my luck's going, I doubt if the biopsy results would be negative.....Dr. Capone said the blood test results were " very high " , indicating that very likely has it. The thyroid can be elevated too, which is was, but not that bad.......heard this goes hand in hand with celiac too.

That's the point. When Maddie's GERD is not under control, her behaviors are unbearable. I would get a reputable GI doc and just follow his advice. Guest guest
I recently had the blood test done to test for celiac sprue. It came back negative. How hard should I be pressing the doctor to do the small intestine biopsy? Has anyone had a negative blood test but postive biopsy. The doctor says my health problems are just from being gluten intolerant only.
