Hi All,

As a group leader I get many e-mails (such as the one below) from various

companies who have products of interest to celiacs wanting me to let group

members know about their products. Occasionally I find one that seems

worth passing on (although I haven’t done much of that lately) and post

it on the list. I just want to check in with everyone to see if you welcome

this information or would prefer not to have it on the list. As a rule, I

wouldn’t be sending more than one a week. So send me your feedback

and I will respond accordingly.

As to the Empire Torte company who sent me

the e-mail below, I checked with them to make sure the product was gluten-free

(they don’t say so on the website at the moment, but are planning to add

it), and it sounds like they have covered all the bases. These torts

sound wonderful (and are priced accordingly) but would be a great gift or

special treat.

Dear Pam,

I am contacting you and your group to let you know about The Empire

Torte.

You might have already heard about us, The Empire Torte Company, as our

tortes have been featured on the Food Network channel with Al Roker, and

written about by food editors at the New York Times and Gourmet Magazine.

Our passion is to be known as the best chocolate torte in the world

– a lofty goal, I know, but you ‘gotta shoot high’J! We

have one secret that we want to share with you; our torte is 100%

gluten-free. And, since we are a single product company, we are able to

completely restrict wheat, barley, rye, and oats from our kitchen.

I must admit that we did not set out to create a gluten-free product

but after 5 years of shipping our tortes all over the country (and even to some

countries outside the US)

we started to notice that many of our best customers are those who have Celiac

or have friends or family members who suffer with it.

This is where you come in. Several of our repeat customers have

told us that it is really hard to find such a treat anywhere in either stores

or mail order. They strongly encouraged me to somehow ‘get the word

out’ to other Celiac patients in order that they might enjoy something so

decadent.

So, if you like chocolate – real chocolate – or think that

some of your members do, please consider telling them about us at your next

meeting.

You can find us online at www.empiretorte.com

to learn more about our passion in being the very best at one thing.

Thanks, Pam, and happy eating.

Warmest Regards,

Tuesday

The Empire Torte Company

P.S. We are happy to give the members of the Santa Cruz Celiac Support

Group a 5% discount off their 1st purchase of an Empire Torte.
