Guest guest
What does the Whole Foods 365 brand pizza crust mix contain? That is, what does it use in place of wheat flour? Regarding your earlier message: the adrenal failure must leave you exhausted. My doctor believes my adrenal glands have ceased to function. The improvement in energy after I increased Prednisone dosage was astonishing. Now, I'm slowly, slowly reducing the dosage, with the hope of "reviving" the adrenal glands. Be sure to follow your doctor's dosage directions exactly, precisely. This is extremely important with steroids. (I have autoimmune hepatitis.) H. It's fine to freeze the second one for up to two weeks and expect the flavor to be just great! **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. Guest guest
Did you freeze the crust before or after baking it? I just made pizza with this mix on Tuesday night and found it a little hard to work with. Any tips that worked well for you? I think the hardest part was just getting it into the pan and shaping it. It was very sticky dough. Thanks for any helpful hints! Guest guest
I made another mix a few months back and also was shocked at what a sticky mess it was. It was a blue box -- arrowhead mills I think. The directions said to add some more GF flour mix if it was too sticky -- I think I could have added an entire box... so finally I just shaped and it used it. It actually wasn't bad -- I wonder if 365 is the same one rebranded. In any case, in retrospect, since there is no gluten, I guess it will always be a big sticky mess so I guess that is just the way GF pizza dough is. Now I will go off on a tangent. I thinking making GF pancakes is really easy but a pet peeve of mine with GF pancake mixes is the xantham gum. I think it is not necessary and when you mix the batter you end up with something like a meringue that you can really pour into the pan... so I make my own without any XG. -Luther On Fri, Feb 29, 2008 at 9:44 AM, squirt2476 <kerihourigan@...> wrote: Did you freeze the crust before or after baking it? Guest guest
I follow the directions carefully, adding the water slowly until the dough just starts to pull away from the mixer beaters (I use a big electric mixer), and then when I am shaping the dough I spread a little of the mix onto the counter top and roll it around. If it is still sticky going into the pans, I use a spatula and spray canola spray on the spatula and then shape the dough flat into the pan. You may need to spray the spatula a few times, but it works awesome! No more sticky hands and fed up hungry GF people! I froze the second crust after I made it, double zip locking it in the fridge so that no ice crystals would accumulate on any moist areas. When I reheated the second crust in the oven it was perfect! One crucial point: I have always used " pizza spices " liberally in my mixes so that the oregano, etc. will cook into the dough. That way, if you are not using much sauce, or no sauce at all, you still have a rustic pizza taste.
