Guest guest
Dawn, Some of the literature I have read on prednisone indicates that it causes increased sensitivity to the sun. My doctor also cautioned me about that. I take 6MP which is less potent than Imuran but the same type of drug;and I cant find anything about photosensitivity in relation to that. I did check my PDR, and it has no info re Imuran at all. nne > > , > > I go the lastest blood test back and they are all > " normal " I have the red bumps for a while and then > they go away. Really strange. Dr is not sure what > they are but he says they are related to the liver > problem. Can you tell me can you tan with prednisone > and Imuran? Guest guest
Im a new member as of this week, so as Carla suggested, I’d like to introduce myself: Late 20s Jersey Girl transplanted into Santa Cruz County (a year and ½ now) Only Celiac in my fam (including extended) This September is my 3 year anniversary as being diagnosed a Celiac Short version of the diagnosis - I had felt ill for almost 1.5 years but was scared and didn’t go see a doc (had always been very healthy & active, never sick); Ended up at the ER with “food poisoning” 1 night; My first Gastroenterologist said I was young, fine and needed to eat better more fiber wheat, and put me on a wheat diet???; Also was very anemic and started taking liquid iron (gross! Don’t wish that on anyone); after a month of a wheat, no fat, no alcohol diet, I dropped pounds, looked like a ghost, felt worse, yet looked more pregnant than my boss who was almost 6 mos pregnant (ah the joys of bloating); Got a second opinion and my new doc diagnosed me just based off the anti-bodies in my blood work from the ER (I had the upper endos to confirm). My GFness is accompanied by a Dairy Free, Soy Free, Nut Free, Peanut Free, Egg Free (feels like everything free) diet – Corn & Mexican food is ify; I turned vegan last November when going through another series of an upper endo, a capsule endo and an ultra sound - so eating is super challenging all the time; sometimes I feel like im just 1 giant rice ball Favorite products include: Food for Life’s “Yeast Free Wheat & Gluten Free Whole Grain Brown Rice Bread” not to be confused with their “Wheat & Gluten Free Whole Grain Brown Rice Bread” – The yeast free (toasted of course & always) tastes like a sourdough Organic Sunshine burgers (Garden Herb and Southwest) Hummus Veggies, a skillet and a spice rack (creativity is key) Rice – lucky for me I was addicted to all kinds since I was a kid (almost a prelude) Since dining out is not my fave – “going out to eat” means treating myself to something expensive from the grocery store (well more than the usual expensiveness); however there are a few select spots I brave every now and again; I travel with a cooler Guess that’s the synopsis for now ~ Nice to meet all of you! Already the emails have been great, it’s nice to be able to relate. Not sure why I didn’t join something like this sooner, I guess I was subconsciously in denial. Guest guest
::waving:: Hi Carla!! We still have to get together. Carla has written me War and Peace emails answering so many of my (as you all know) extensive questions. I'm trying to figure out how to pop into the Garlic Festival just so I can say hello. That's a nice thing for you to do, re-introducing yourself. Here's me: Only celiac in family, tho I suspect my mom, my brother and possibly my son. He's the only one I can get tested, which I'll do at his physical next week. I live in Hill with my husband of 15 years and my kids, 10 (boy), 8 (girl) and 5 (girl). They love to try out my gf stuff, and like all the cookies and pasta. I work as a teacher's aide at my kids' school in the first grade class and I love it. I also love having summer off. I think that's it! Guest guest
Hi Eileen. In regards to: “What are Organic Sunshine burgers (Garden Herb and Southwest)? I don’t even read labels on frozen non-meat burgers since I figure they all have gluten or soy for protein. Sunshine burgers are made mostly of rice, sunflower seeds & beans…they are a new find (about a month ago I randomly came across them) – they have some veggies and spices depending on the flavor…there is also “Original” and “BBQ” – no wheat or soy, it’s great! - From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Groff Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2007 10:47 PM Subject: RE: [ ] Roll Call - nice to meet you (online) and nice to have a fellow GF,DF,SF to conspire with. I will introduce myself to the group again – Eileen Groff Stay at home (with night jobs) mommy for 2 terrific kids – son (5.5) and daughter (precocious 2) Married to the greatest guy I’ve ever met – , Co-Owner and ‘baker man’ for the ‘I Can Eat That’ GF,DF,SF,NF products. Approx age 30 I began getting very ill, and like many, I went to countless MD’s only to have ‘normal’ tests and prescribed anti-depressants for my presumed depression/stress induced hypochondria. I did the whole GI gamut and was diagnosed as IBS. Then my (finally found a competent MD) sent me a medical journal article about celiac and it was dead on my symptoms. I went GF and after about 6 months was feeling like I was finally on the mend and saw the light at the end of the dark tunnel. I have been GF since. Last year, after more food allergies surfaced with my last pregnancy, I went to try to get a ‘formal’ diagnosis from D. Gray. He did the genetic DQHLA testing and I did not ‘have the genes’ for celiac. However, I am not really willing to go on a ‘challenge’ considering how many other digestive issues I have with other foods (dairy and soy). IBS, celiac, intolerant, allergic …does not matter the label…I’m not going to eat it and feel like crap. Besides, my food issues may be a curse or a blessing. Both my kids also have food allergies. I need to help them live healthy lives and be a model for them. My husband is a saint to help support our diet even though he has no allergies. We will hopefully all live longer with the healthier diet. Ido have to say that I get so tired of the same old meals and restaurants, and I SO BADLY crave the dairy. GF is no big deal, but life without dairy sucks – even after a year. Thanks for the info on the Organic Bistro Meals. I will have to try them for a night off from cooking. What are Organic Sunshine burgers (Garden Herb and Southwest)? I don’t even read labels on frozen non-meat burgers since I figure they all have gluten or soy for protein. My best wishes to all the old and new members of the group. Guest guest
Hi! Great idea to have folks introduce themselves.-Name: I go by both h and Isaiah, depending on who's talking to me I keep a blog about my gluten-free cooking at http://glutenfreebay.blogspot.com-Mid 20's, female-Currently living in New Paltz, NY but I lived in Oakland, CA for 6 years and moved less than 3 months ago. I stayed on the list so I can give local eating suggestions since I loved eating out in the Bay... and because I plan to visit on a regular basis so I like to stay on top of what's going on. -Previously I've lived in San Francisco, Oakland, NYC, Northampton, MA, Great Barrington, MA, Rosendale, NY and New Paltz, NY (the latter two are where I grew up).-Having previously been everything from a Railroad Conductor to a Prep Cook to a Warehouse Manager, I am now an independent contractor doing various and sundry tasks for different companies, such as internet marketing for an educational institution, database administration, and data storage equipment sales. I am in school to become a Registered Dietitian. -Fave products: Amy's frozen GF Mac & Cheese, Chebe pizza crusts, Larabars, Jennie's Macaroons, Enjoy Life's Ryeless Rye Bread (which is near impossible to find anymore, I don't know if maybe they discontinued it), La Tortilla Gluten-Free Wraps.. and of course fresh fruit and veggies and whole GF grains. Fave foods are anything that is both gluten-free and kosher and is made without refined sugar ;-P -I'm currently the main chef in my household, which is not an entirely GF household but I've been okay so far.-In addition to being GF I am also kosher, and I am currently not eating any highly refined sweeteners. I am taking it easy on dairy and soy right now because they've both been making me sick again. Somehow, i still manage to cook and eat well -Favorite place in the Bay Area to eat GF food safely and deliciously: Out the Door (Slanted Door's smaller and cheaper restaurant in the Westfield Shopping Centre in SF.Nice to get to know everybody 'round here! Guest guest
Here's my info: Name is Joe . Live in Danville, work in Livermore. I am a web developer and do a lot of research in web standards, semantic web, and social networks. In a past life I was a professional classical musician and play double bass and guitar. Grew up here in the East Bay, and have lived in Boston, Portland OR, and El Lay, and we make frequent trips back to Taiwan to visit my wife's side of the family. Favorite foods and/or foods include: Redbridge beer, Whole Foods' hamburger buns (good with ground chuck, dry aged cheddar, tomatoes, and romaine), Tinkyada pasta, Nature's Path corn flakes, Arrowhead Mills' organic maple buckwheat flakes, peaches, strawberries, bananas, dry aged NY strip, roasted chicken, red wine, and loaded baked potatoes. I avoid most refined sugar products just because I don't have much of a sweet tooth, and try to avoid milk products because of the lactose although I have a total weakness for good cheese, in which case lactase enzyme supplements work fine. I have a blog here, which is usually polluted with geeky information on web development and music practice issues, but occasionally I'll put in something about gluten-free as well: http://sanbeiji.com/ Favorite restaurant with GF options has been Va de Vi in Walnut Creek. Cheers, Joe -- Joe http://sanbeiji.com/ On 7/27/07, seamaiden399 <seamaiden399@...> wrote: > Ok, here goes! > > Name: I go by Seamaiden or Sea(web at large) or (in RL and more > personal web forums). Guest guest
Hi Marie I knew this girl years ago who jumped from a heigth, and broke both of her ankles. Her parents didnt believe she was hurt, so didnt take her to the doctor for a couple of months. Finally they did, and come to find out, she had broken both ankles. Just because you break a bone doesnt mean that you cannot function, but not healing properly will give you problems for the rest of your life. This why its important to get health issues checked out by a doctor. I would suggest that you get in ASAP, and get checked out. If it is just a sprain, great, and you can eat some pain killers. If it is broken....best you know and have it cared for. Life can wait, one's health comes first, in my opinion. love don in ks From: Rain <annamariestitt@...>Subject: [ ] Re: Roll Call Date: Tuesday, June 15, 2010, 10:39 AM Good Morning All,Did someone get the license plate to that truck that hit me last night?
