I'm going. I'll be checking people in, and would also love to meet

folks from the group. I'm Asian. Please feel free to introduce

yourself.

Hi Carla and Everyone,

I am really disappointed, but I won't be at the GF Cooking Spree tonight. My husband and I really wanted to be there, but we had too many other commitments this weekend and then sick kids to boot!

I am SO disappointed. I hope this happens again...I'd love to hear how it went. Have a FANTASTIC time. Just the thought of all that delicious food I can eat.....By the way, where does everyone live? I live in Moraga, but work in Oakland and Castro Valley.

Warmly,

Caryn

I live in Antioch with my husband and two sons, but I lived in Moraga

during college (St. 's) and loved it.

My favorites were Natasha's Healthy Nut Cranberry Orange cookies.

Very healthy ingredients and great flavor and texture. The reminded

me of a cookie a favorite aunt made. I enjoyed the Charlotte's bread

though I rarely eat bread. Nice teture without toasting and good

flavor though a bit sweet. The Chebe pizza crust and rolls were

good. (I have a good recipe for those that want to make them

yourself.) For the contestants I loved the macaroni and cheese dish

and the chicken schnitzel. And of course I always enjoy a Bard's!!!

I really enjoyed meeting some people from the list, and it was nice

to get a few Mariposa snacks, since I rarely go to the East Bay and

haven't made it to the bakery yet. The event reminded me how

individual our tastes in food are. I have to say I wasn't knocked

over by the menu items, however much I enjoyed the atmosphere and

the simple pleasure of knowing that I could eat anything there if I

wanted to.

It made me miss the annual Stanford celiac event, which combined

food tasting with workshops and the latest scientific information,

even more. I only attended the very last one, because that was the

first one held after my diagnosis, but I thought it was enormously

helpful and really looked forward to returning the following year.

I know it was a huge amount of work to organize, and one person,

whose name I'm embarrassed to say I forgot, did the lion's share of

the work. Any saints out there or a group of saintly folks with a

fair amount of free time who'd like to try to revive it? Yeah, I

know. Free time, what's that? Wishful thinking.

Best to all,

Sharon

Well... actually.... I wasn't completely blown away by the main dishes

either. I think they might have been better off without the pasta

theme, because it's really easy to overcook GF pasta, and it retains

its structure best if rinsed. However, it really was great to be able

to try everything, though, and I loved the idea. I would go again...

I should say, DH really enjoyed the chicken schnitzel. Charlotte's

bread really was nice, as well. Tasted like homemade, sort of.

I'd love the recipe for Chebe- I want to try making those sundried

tomato rolls!
