Hi Cesar,

In'n'Out hamburgers does " protein style " burgers on lettuce leaves, and

everything but the buns on the menu is gluten free. There is one just south of

SF in Daly City/Serramonte, another at Fisherman's Wharf, and a third across the

Golden Gate bridge in Marin. Barney's Burgers, on 24th Street in the Noe Valley

part of SF, does the same, but I wouldn't vouch for the cleanliness of their

grill.

P.F. Chang's, across the Bay bridge in Emeryville, has a gf menu (Asian food).

Also Rick and Anne's, in Berkeley, has excellent gluten free pancakes on their

menu.

Outback Steakhouse has a GF menu. There is one in Marin, across the GG bridge,

and another in Serramonte, just south of SF.

My daughters eat a lot of steamed rice when we dine out in SF, which I

supplement with go-gurt, cheese sticks, peanut butter on Real Foods corn

crackers, etc.

Hope this helps!

There is also whole food on California,

And Minako Restaurant on Mission between 17th & 18th

(or 18th & 19th). The owner is a friend of mine and

has all kinds of GF Japanese stuff you can’t normally eat. Including a GF

unagi – yuuuuuuuuum. Her stuff is listed as “Wheat Free” but is safe. I am

the proverbial “canary in a coal mine” and haven’t gotten sick.

Cafe Gratitude (http://www.cafegratitude.com/) is surprisingly

kid-friendly. At least, the staff was -- they brought out crayons and

some toys and things for the kids when I went there with friends who

had an infant and a two-year-old. When it's nice, they open up a big

picnic-y area out back, where I've definitely seen kids running

around.

It tends more toward the hippie earth-mother style of kid-friendly, so

we definitely got looks from the other patrons when the kids started

making too much noise, but the kids seemed to enjoy the food.

(Obviously, this may not work if your kids are really picky eaters,

but the food is labeled as " burgers " and " lasagna " and " enchiladas, "

so despite the vegan aspect, you may be able to sneak it past them!)

Put this on the Map!

I noticed that the map has only been around for just over 2

months and has over 3K hits! Wow! Shows how much need there is for this sort

of thing.

Thanks,
