Pizza Rustica and Barbecue

Hi All I'm wondering if anyone has eaten at Pizza Rustica in Oakland? Do you know if they will continue to offer gluten free pizza (I believe they were using "I can eat that" crusts)? Also, do any of you eat barbecue sauce when you are eating out? I have been craving ribs, pulled pork, etc. recently but I'm really paranoid about eating barbecue sauce in a restaurant. Do any of you eat BBQ out? Thanks! ~

Unfortunately, I haven't eaten there, and can't answer either

question.

Nope, not much anymore. I got really sick eating at an Armadillo

Willy's once, and have pretty wary since. That said, Outback's ribs

and BBQ sauce are GF, and pretty decent the times I have tasted it.

I don't know about anyone else. I generally save my BBQ eating for

home, because I make a killer BBQ sauce!

Ruth Anne,

Would you share the recipe for your

barbeque sauce? I’m currently paying way too much for “Bone

Sucking Sauce” which is available at the Food Mill but only there, not

the Bowl, not WF, no where I usually shop.

I ate at Pizza Rustica a while back. I didn't think the GF pizza crusts were very good, and I got really sick afterwards but I don't know for sure it was gluten - All i know is myself and the person I went with (also gluten intolerant) both got really sick. I'd rather make a Chebe crust at home, it's tastier and safer.

Also, I don't eat BBQ when I'm out except when I can see the ingredient list - Because it almost always has worcestershire sauce (which frequently contains gluten) and/or some other suspect ingredient. I do eat grilled stuff, but without the sauce. Isaiah-- Gluten-Free Bayhttp://glutenfreebay.blogspot.com

I don’t eat BBQ, but Annie’s

GF BBQ sauce is good for home use (I live by her salad dressings & mustard)

http://www.consorzio.com/catalog/annies-organic-original-sauce-p-1000044.html

Someone told me a chain called “Brunos

BBQ” has safe BBQ options (fries are not though)

As for the Pizza, I wouldn’t trust GF

pizza made in a regular pizza parlor for anything – too much flour in the

air and cross contamination.

Pizza Rustica ‘may’ still

carry the GF crusts. Call to be sure. We (and other GF friends) have eaten the

pizza many times with no issues.

As for BBQ sauce - I use the TJ’s

brand or Hunts and have not had any reactions. I also think that Tony Roma may

have a GF sauce (I think the Honey Sauce used to be GF) but of course there may

be a CC issues.

Sure, but it will have to wait until I get home.
