I need to confirm again, but Chocolates in Oakland were almost

all GF the last time we checked. They have gorgeous, unique chocolates.

Dagoba and Scharffenberger have always been gluten free (Dagoba even

states so on their labels). Are you sure this reply is not in response

to ph Schmidt only? Dagoba and Scharffenberger don't do biscotti

crunch, and all three brands are produced in different facilities.

For what it's worth: I eat Dagoba and Scharffenberger plain chocolates

(ok and Dagoba hot chocolate too) frequently. (OK... all the time).

And I have no reaction, even though I'm quite sensitive.

OK Sorry.. can't let this go. I don't care about much, but don't even

try to take away my chocolate! LOL

Got this from Dagoba's web site:

Are Dagoba's products gluten free?

Yes and our facility does not handle any products made with gluten.

And this from Scharffenberger's web site:

Q: Is there gluten in chocolate?

A: No, there is no gluten in our chocolate. Gluten is a mixture of

plant proteins occurring in cereal grains, chiefly wheat, rye and

barley. Our chocolate ingredients: (cacao beans, sugar, vanilla bean,

cocoa butter, and soy lecithin as an emulsifier) do not contain

gluten. We also do not have any cereal grains present anywhere in our

manufacturing facility at any time. Please note that our Cocao Powder

and Sweetened Cocoa Powder are processed in a facility that handles

wheat products, and thus may contain traces of gluten.

So we can all continue enjoying those top-quality (and very tasty)

chocolate bars!

Same here on the Dagoba chocolate bars and

hot chocolate…never a problem and you’re right, the label says

gluten free. I hope they’re safe, they’re my saving grace…just

had the mint one yesterday! Is Scharffenberger really GF? Whenever im in Peet’s

I stare at it, but have never gotten any to go along with my coffee b/c I didn’t

think it was GF, I too am very sensitive…better yet, I don’t want

to know otherwise I wont be able to pass it up, heh heh.

Hi Garber (of Artisan Chocolates):Again, thank you for your reply. On the other hand, it has created some confusion, and I am CCing this email to the group so that you can tell us all. Some of the members have looked at the Web sites of Dagoba and Scharffenberger and found statements that there is not gluten use or possible contamination. So, did your reply only apply to ph Schmidt chocolates or to the other two divisions as well? We all would love to know, as we prefer to not be denied any excellent chocolate product. Thanks for your help, and please reply to all.
