Guest guest
On Church Street. That was supposed to be Church, not Castro. My bad… From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Lillyth Denaghy Keogh-Quillan Sent: Monday, February 18, 2008 10:38 PM Subject: [ ] Natural Food store on Castro I went to the new Natural Foods store today and thought it was pretty lame. It had about five or six different kinds of GF bread, but other than that, not so much in the way of the “big” or “cheap” GF section I was told about. If you’re thinking of making a big trip to it, don’t. The parking sucks and the selection is smaller than at WF, and everything was WAY more expensive. My hubby & I grabbed a few things, then pretty much walked out in disgust. Lil
Guest guest
Lil, Sorry to hear you were disappointed. I've never been to Whole Foods (I don't have a car and I hate bringing groceries on MUNI)... but as far as I can tell Golden Natural Foods is the best thing we have in the Castro-Mission neighborhood. It sure beats Rainbow in terms of selection, anyhow. If I succeed in getting them to carry Kinnikinnick products, I'll let the list know. Guest guest
Have you tried Rainbow Grocery in SF? Out of the places I have been to, they had the biggest GF selection I had seen, at least with cereals and baking mixes. I only recall maybe two breads, but GF bread is mostly off my radar since I find most brands too eggy. Guest guest
Oh yeah. I go to Rainbow & WF all the time. I had just heard about the new Natural Foods store & got all excited. From what I had heard I was expecting a HUGE GF section for like, half the cost of Rainbow. ;-( From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Luther Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2008 6:05 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Natural Food store on Castro Have you tried Rainbow Grocery in SF? Guest guest
I just went there a few days ago and thought it was much better than Rainbow. They didn't really have a GF section, but they had a ton of GF stuff throughout the store. GF waffles in with the other frozen waffles, GF crackers in with the other crackers, etc. I'm not all that familiar with Rainbow's GF stuff, but it seemed to be all on one rack and kinda " eh " ? On the other hand, I'm the kind of shopper who likes to wander around stores and get inspired, so it may just be that I liked the spread-out layout better. Guest guest
Rainbow’s is spread out too. I guess it was just that I heard from two different people “they have a HUGE GF section, and everything is WAY cheaper”, so I was expecting a “GF Section” and everything to be “way” cheaper, not $1.50 more than Whole Paycheck… From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Nosal Sent: Wednesday, February 20, 2008 7:13 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Natural Food store on Castro I just went there a few days ago and thought it was much better than Rainbow.
