Best restaurant experience ever!

Ok, this was so good I just have to share. My friends and I went to Maggiano's

in Santana Row

last weekend, and everyone wanted to do family style dining, except of course

most of their

food containes gluten so I told the waiter that probably wouldn't work for me.

Well, he said it

was no problem, they would just cook the same things as gluten-free for me.

I received everything (way too much food) via my own personal chef : salads,

appetizers,

pasta, steak, fish and dessert - all cooked to order and meticulously vetted to

make sure it

didn't contain the slightest gluten contamination. The food was delicious, and

there was so

much left over I still have some for dinner tonight!

I don't think I've ever felt so taken care of in a restaurant - my friends

actually thought the

sauce for my steak was better than theirs!

That's awesome. I think that I read a gluten

contamination horror story on this list about that

restaurant some months ago -- I bet that incident

prompted them to get their act in gear. I'm glad it

was a great experience.

I had a similar wonderful experience at the Maggiano's in Santa

or Windsor. (Can't remember exactly where we were.) It was my first

GF pizza experience and I felt like I had died and gone to heaven.

The main dish I ordered was delicious too. And I got to try

Redbridge beer without buying a whole six pack. Good thing since I

still prefer Bard's - not that I have more than a few beers a year!

But may as well really enjoy those extra calories.

I didn't think Maggiano had GF pizza... If it was in Windsor, could it

have been Mangiamo rather than Maggiano? They have a great gluten-free

menu, including pizza... the owner's wife and child have Celiac.

I blogged about it a while back: http://www.bookofyum.com/blog/?p=440

It's a great place!

Oops, you are absolutely right, that was the place. I confused the

name. I didn't know about the owners family connection to Celiac but

that makes sense. I was just so floored that I could have a

wonderful, safe meal so easily. I really loved that place. Thanks

for the clarification.

That sounds awesome. I have to try that place on my next wine tasting

excursion. Added that to the map: http://tinyurl.com/ysgmjf
