I went to this place myself for the first time a couple weeks ago... and I just noticed the dinner emails. Sorry to say I don't feel after talking with the owner in person that these crepes are gluten free. I believe he is not aware of the level of sensitivity some of us have to cross-contamination...

The crepes are made in plain sight on two grill/hot plate things (no idea what you call these) by the bar. The wheat flour crepes are made on the same plates as the buckwheat. He said that it is hot, so probably there's no worry about that... not the case for me. There was music there that night and couldn't explain the issue to him completely but I did tell him I thought I would need it to be a dedicated wheat free range. From what I've heard from various sources, cleansing any surface with hot soapy water (particularly a porous metal) after contact with with wheat allows you to prepare gluten free food. If you are as sensitive as I am, you can order a salad or a pan-fried omlette. My omlette was really good, with yummy ratatouille. Those of you who can handle a little gluten are lucky because the crepes sound delicious.

That being said, please count me in. I'm looking forward to seeing some of you again.Naren

dinner this Sat. in Oakland

-- please come!!!

Hey there,

Just a reminder that the Bay Area Celiac Dinner Group has a dinner

planned for this Saturday night, and there's definitely room for more.

It'll be at Cafe Cote D'or, a bistro on Lakeshore Ave. in Oakland that

features savory buckwheat dinner crepes that are gluten free. There are

several varieties on the menu.

For more information go to the dinner group group:

You can get more details and rsvp.

Happy holidays and hope to see you there,
