Guest guest
Yes, actually this is not uncommon. It seems to have gotten better for me the longer I have been GF and casein free. I still need to watch my eronomics at the computer. Curious if any of the other Celiac members have experienced the same sensation. Not sure if its possibly nerve damage due to the extreme anemia I had prior to be diagnosed w/ CD, or what?! Guest guest
Yes, I experience this too - usually towards the end of a "flare" - I seem to get an autoimmune type flare if I take gluten for several days without realizing it (e.g. substituted pharmaceutical that i didn't catch) From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of WallaceSent: Friday, October 19, 2007 10:53 AM Subject: RE: [ ] Tingling in Hands & Feet Yes, I experience this too, sometimes it’s extreme and other times not. Guest guest
I used to experience tingling in my hands and arms, but once on a GF diet, that stopped. What has continued, though much less frequently than before, is severe leg cramps at night that wake me up. I assume when I get them that I'd unknowingly eaten something with gluten. Any other leg crampers out there? Guest guest
Cramps and pains, and btw my G.I and an Endocrinologist found out I had a calcium issue – my body wasn’t absorbing it so it was pulling from my bones making my levels extremely high. I went on prescription Vitamin D to jump start absorption along with tums for calcium and the aches went away and levels have been down (it’s been almost a year since ive gone through this) From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Sharon Wood Sent: Friday, October 19, 2007 12:22 PM Subject: RE: [ ] Tingling in Hands & Feet I used to experience tingling in my hands and arms, but once on a GF diet, that stopped. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, I've also experienced this and still do sometimes. But, I do know of two things that can contribute to it. One is a B12 deficiency and the other is hypothyroidism. I would definitely recommend getting checked for these problems or at least research the symptoms to see if they seem to fit. I have both of these problems. And, the tingling has defininitely lessoned after being treated. --- In , " Kathleen " <kw.watson@...> wrote: > > Over thepast several months I've been experiencing tingling and slight > numbness in my fingers and toes. Guest guest
In some cases this may be caused by peripheral neuropathy, which is damage to the peripheral nerves, which is a disease that can be associated with celiac disease. While the diet may help with the symptoms and halt further deterioration, the exact link is not well understood. In severe cases medication can be used to control pain. For a detailed look at the relationship see the following article: http://www.enabling.org/ia/celiac/doc/news0302%20latov%20article.pdf More information can be found by searching on “peripheral neuropathy” or “peripheral neuropathy celiac” Pam Newbury Santa Cruz Celiac Support Group From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of sspitzer5 Sent: Sunday, October 21, 2007 10:12 AM Subject: [ ] Re: Tingling in Hands & Feet Hi Kathleen, I've also experienced this and still do sometimes.
