Guest guest
Yesterday I had a great lunch with friends at PF Chang's in Emeryville. I had called the day before to see if I could order something from the regular menu and have it made gluten free. I talked to Mike and he was so accommodating and nice. When I was there he was gracious to check on me and supervise my food preparation too. And it was nice to eat something besides my usual lettuce wraps! He also told me that they will soon have the gluten free menu in a sleeve that is part of the regular menu and that it will have about 4 times the choices compared to the current GF menu. Later the server asked me questions about celiac and in the course of the conversation he shared that they plate the ingredients for GF meals on red plates to alert the chefs that the dish needs special allergy attention. What a great idea! This doesn't mean that mistakes can't happen - especially when the kitchen is very busy - but it is a very visible warning to the chefs to take a minute to pay special attention to that order. How cool! Maia
