Guest guest
Whole Foods also has a lemon-almond cake that does state that it's GF but contains no gluten ingredients and causes me no problems. It's delicious. It don't recall what kind of frosting it has, if any -- I just recall the taste, and that everyone in my family fights over it. Yummy. H. Guest guest
Oops -- I meant to write that the WF lemon-almond torte DOESN'T state that it's GF. However, it contains no gluten ingredients and causes me (ultra-sensitive) no problems. H. In a message dated 2/7/08 1:23:23 PM, jaybirdsg@... writes: Hi there, Have you tried Whole Foods? Guest guest
Crave Bakery does a cute chocolate cake. You can buy it at some Whole Foods or other health food stores. http://www.cravebakery.com/mamaz.html Hope this helps! - > > > > > Hi there, > > > > > > I'm in the market for a gluten free birthday cake, > > > with frosting and > > > all. > > > > > > Any recommendations on bakeries that make gf > > > birthday cakes? > > > > > > I live in Oakland but might be willing to travel a > > > bit to get it. > > > > > > thanks, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ************** > Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. > > (http://music.aol.com/grammys/pictures/never-won-a-grammy?NCID=aolcmp00300000002\ 5 > 48) >
Guest guest
Oh, two other suggestions: if you don't mind raw desserts, Cafe Gratitude has some really nice GF desserts, esp. cheesecake-esque (no dairy) type recipes. Mariposa Bakery in Oakland might have something as well. Alternatively, I have heard of people getting ice cream cakes made special w/o the usual cookie crumbles, but of course there is the CC factor. -

Guest guest
Central Avenue Bakery in Pacific Grove is an awesome place I just discovered. I had some Carrot Cake there today and have had their lemon cake as well. The have a gluten free menu with pizza and sandwiches. If you are heading out to Monterey check them out. They are of course located on Central Avenue in Pacific Grove. Taniamaya s <mayaglutenfree@...> wrote: There's also Kapcakes Bakehouse in Palo Alto. (www.kapcakes.com) They make great cakes. Guest guest
It is cute, but I thought it tasted bad. It was really dry. I would definitely contact Whole Foods or another bakery people have recommended. Guest guest
Trudy, maybe its my Gmail but I can't figure out which cake you are referring to as tasting bad and being dry -can you clarify please? I know this is not answering the original question, but my birthday was last weekend and this was my first GF birthday. I made my own cake -- I bought chocolate cake mix from Dowd and (they have it at Andronico's, Raindbow, and I think Whole Foods too). It is super easy to mix and bake and only takes about a half hour total. Then I made butter creme frosting -- I just bought a can of powdered chocolate and followed the directions (butter, powedered sugar, and forsting). Overall I probably did spend a total of an hour or so, but it was pretty easy and tasted great. The D & R cake mix uses chestnut flour among others... In any case, I am following this thread closely as we are looking for a place in the Berkeley area to pick up GF cakes! Guest guest
I was referring to the little Crave bakery cake that you can buy at WF. I also LOVE Dowd & mix - I made it for a baby shower full of glutenoids and nobody knew the difference! I've been having trouble finding them though - WF stopped carrying them since they started selling the 365 cake mixes. ----- Original Message ----- From: Luther Sent: Saturday, February 09, 2008 9:28 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: gf birthday cake?
