Guest guest
Hi all, I'm a new member, originally from the Bay Area but currently studying in Spain. My partner, who is from Spain, is Celiac-Sprue and I have signed up to this group because I'm of course learning and supporting him, having fun learning how to cook new plates, etc. All of the materials we have to date are specific to Spain, and this group will be interesting for me to hear more information from " America " . In any case, we will visit the Bay Area this summer. I noticed a link in the group to Google Maps of restaurants and markets that are Celiac-friendly. Has anyone had a positive experience at a restaurant (anywhere in the Bay Area) where they served celiac-friendly plates? The only restaurant I am familiar with is Pasta Pomodoro, but I'm wondering if there are other places that you would personally recommend (ambience, service, etc). Since I'm not in California right now, it's not easy for me to investigate these places that I don't recognize. Any recommendations you can give would be most appreciated. I know we can monitor the cooking at home, but it is nice to take him to restaurants and show him the best that the Bay Area has to offer. Thanks in advance, Sara
Guest guest
We recently had a great experience at St. 's Alley in Palo Alto. They cooked my daughter's eggs, bacon, and potatoes separately and she was thrilled. The manager really seemed to understand the importance of keeping her food separate, and understood that gluten is not just wheat. I have also been told that many Mexican restaurants have safe foods. Andale and Palo Alto Sol have both been tried by our celiac neighbors many times. (Both places are in Palo Alto). Guest guest
That's good to hear. We also dine regularly at Celia's on El Camino in PA. My son has never had problems.
