Guest guest
Oops I was able to answer my own question. I went to the General Mills website and saw what the box looks like. http://www.generalmills.com/corporate/brands/brand.aspx?catID=54 & groupID=19412Pretty specific.I guess I will have to wait for my store to carry the newer versions. Guest guest
I bought some that had the new packaging but I can't remember where - it was either the Nob Hill in Mtn View on Grant, or the Lucky's in Mtn View on El Camino near highway 85. I will be baking up a batch of chex mix any day now -can't wait! I do recall only seeing a few boxes w/ the new labeling - I had to hunt through the shelf to find it amongst the old ones. Guest guest
It takes a while for the old stock to be cleared out and the new to start arriving at the markets. We have been search all the local stores and so far have not found the new product line. The expiration dates on cereal is usually 12 months. My wife bought a box of rice chex for herself (Non Gluten Free) two weeks ago and the expiration date is September 2008, So this means that this product was packaged in September of 2007 and this is what is still on the shelves. So expect to wait several more months before the new formulation is available. Also it warns on the website to always check the ingredients because they may change the formulation at any time. Also I have found that it depends on which plant it comes out of as to whether or not the change and when. An example is that I can eat Bugles that my sister gets in Oregon when I visit her but any that are sold here in California have wheat in them. They come from a different plant. Rice Chex were one of my favorite when I was a kid so I am really looking forward to this coming on the market. I guess it well have to be something to check every time we do our shopping. Guest guest
Also I just received this from Clan : "In the Mini-List published in yesterday's news letter, Rice Chex cereal is listed as being gluten free. Please note that only the new REFORMULATED boxes of Rice Chex are gluten free. These boxes will be marked Gluten Free on the front of the box. General Mills says they are also being made in a dedicated facility so there's no cross contamination either. However, there are still old boxes on the shelf that contain barley malt and are not gluten free. Make sure you check the box for the Gluten Free labeling." Guest guest
Check at Target also. I looked at two Safeway stores with no luck but found them at my local Target store. --- In , Melita <leftcoastmelita@...> wrote: > > Oops I was able to answer my own question. Guest guest
It has been a challenge to find the new Rice Chex, but we found them just where found hers - Nob Hill in Mountain View. Safeway in Sunnyvale (both on/near Wolfe), Luckys (ce Expy) and Target all have the old stock at this time.Rice Chex is a nice addition to the cereals that have to be purchased at WFM.As some of you may know, Hallie and I spent 11 days in the UK. Guest guest
Are the new boxes labeled " Gluten Free " , or is there something in the ingredients you have to look for? > > Just check and make sure your store doesn't still have some old non-GF > boxes of Rice Chex around. > > > *ALL* Rice Chex is now GF! > > We sent General Mills a very nice note. >

It used to be on front of the box, but now, it's on one of the sides. It's still pretty prominent. --Ruth Anne
