Passover Delights torta regina and cookies ... We will be offering Torta Regina cakes this year for Passover. Fragranced with cirtus zest, these 8 " cakes are a wonderful blend of chocolate, almonds and hazelnuts. Made by Hanna at Kapcakes, the Torta Regina is suitable for Passover as well as gluten-free and dairy-free with no added fats or oils. Yum! Also from Kapcakes, we will be offering a variety of cookies, including nut macaroons, which are also suitable for Passover. These Passover delights will be available in our cafe starting Thursday, April 17. In Just 4 Days -- Meet Ann Whelan of " Gluten-Free Living " Magazine editor/publisher Ann Whelan will be here this Saturday, April 12... Ann Whelan, editor/publisher of Gluten-Free Living, will be here this Saturday(April 12) for a meet-the-editor event. Gluten-Free Living began as an 8-page black and white newsletter. It grew as Ann put in-depth research into each article and wrote in a clear style that was easy to read and understand. Ann went places no one had gone previously - to the food scientists and researchers, food processors, ingredient suppliers, government officials and others who had the information celiacs were looking for. She straightened out misinformation and in the process made it easier for celiacs to make safe food choices. Ann will be here at Cafe Mariposa from 11am-1pm on April 12 with magazines and stories to share. We hope you'll join us! Mariposa Nominated for Oakland Indie Award come celebrate with us Friday, May 2 Thanks to you, Mariposa Baking was nominated for an Oakland Indie Award -- a community-oriented award for Oakland independent businesses and artists. The Indie Awards were created by Oakland Unwrapped! and are now hosted by OneCalifornia Foundation. They are hosting an awards party on Friday, May 2 at 5:30 pm at Historic Sweets Ballroom in downtown Oakland. This event will celebrate the spirit and community impact of Oakland's independent businesses and artists. We want to thank you for recognizing us as an asset to the city of Oakland and we invite you to come celebrate with us at this special event. Book Signing with Mallorca just in time for mother's day! Also, save the date -- Saturday, May 10 for a book signing with Mallorca, author of " The Wheat-Free Cook " , a must-have cookbook for all gluten-free kitchens. is a fantastic local food writer and her book has been praised by many, including Dr. Green of Columbia University and Chuck , founder of -Sonoma. Extended Hours cafe mariposa open late 2 nights a week We have had many requests to be open later during the week and now happily we are! Cafe Mariposa is now open until 6pm on both Thursdays and Fridays. We hope this will make it easier for many of you to visit us during the week. Join us for our usual delights and smiles! We are working on being open on Sundays, but still haven't found a permanent crew to work Sundays. If you know anyone who would like to work either weekend day in our cafe, please send them our way!
