Guest guest
HI there, my grandson was just diagnosed with ach at one month old, he was seen by a geneticist at a Children's Hospital. Maybe you can find a genetics specialist in the area. Once diagnosed they will do a DNA testing to see if it is genetic or not. Hope this info helps. william <will_111279@...> wrote: I am 4'10. I am porortanate so my parents never had me diagnosed because they thought there was a certane " look " for a dwarf and I didn't seem to fit it. Now as an adult whom notices that I don't really " look " like average hight people eather, I am wondering if I am a dwarf and if so what do I have. I live in wester Washington(state). Guest guest
I am a non-ach dwarf. I had a lot of medical issues as a child. My type of dwarfism was never diagnosed - although genetics specialists attempted to diagnose it, they never settled on a specific type. I am more proportional - yet I know I don't look like average-sized persons either. I am 4'3 " tall and about 75lbs. I'll put my photo in the photo section. Best to go to a genetics specialist to try and get a diagnosis. They still haven't figured out what to expect for my dwarfism issues in the future. > I am 4'10. Guest guest
, what some people call a " midget " is actually a form of dwarfism. There is a type of dwarfism called hypo-pituitary dwarfism (or proportional dwarfism) and usually can be treated with growth hormone shots. Of course, at 13 you may just be a " late bloomer. " My dad was only like 5'4 " when he graduated from high school, and was 5'10 " by the time he graduated from college. Also, there are many Asians who never grow taller than 5-foot even at complete adult height. So my best advice would be to check with a pediatrician to see if your body is producing enough growth hormone. BUT, if you do have a form of dwarfism (there are other types that appear proportional too, such as Silver Syndrome, and some SEDs) it's nothing to worry about. Dwarfs are cool too! , what part of Washington do you live in? If you are near Portland, I'd suggest you see Dr. Rodney Beals at OHSU. He's treated and diagnosed many different types of dwarfs. In the Seattle area there are several good doctors too. Check out the lpaonline.org web site to find the nearest LPA chapter to you (you are in District 11) and you can email your chapter president and they could probably put you in touch with someone who knows a good doctor. Or email me privately at tslug1@... and I will forward you some contact info for little people in your area (I live in south-central Washington state). Take care. Guest guest
Hi , I have a couple of recommendations. Dr. Welter with Camino Medical Group in Mountain View took my celiac questions very seriously and immediately sent me over to a GI doctor for both an endoscopy and colonoscopy. Website is www.caminomedicalgroup.org Also, I see you mentioned nursing, so it would be intersting to hear your symptoms. I had a TON of issues after my daughter's birth and didn't feel like I was getting any useful answers. On a friend's recommendation, I finally went to see Dr. Becker, the top endocrinologist in San Francisco, and was diagnosed with all sorts of weird and wonderful things. I've been seeing him for two years now and he has made my life worth living again. His newest research is that there is a tentative hope that because CD is related to my autoimmune disease, it could have been the trigger and maybe one day I could actually eat wheat again. All my other food allergies have disappeared, so I'll keep my fingers crossed! Steph > > Hello, > > I just introduced myself in another thread, and now I have a question.
