Guest guest
Hey , I was going to say, it's so good to hear your voice but I guess I should say, it's so good to read your words. LOL I'm so glad the operation went OK. We were getting very worried when we didn't hear anything from you. Sorry about the computer crash. That is such a pain. Again, I'm just so glad to hear you're OK. Take care and do what the doctor tells you to do. Rest is very important right now! Guest guest
Hello dear Genny, Debbie/FL, Jerry, Luanne, Bozena, Pam in CT, and all, I want to hug you all in thanks for the prayers and encouragement. I am always so happy to hear good news when it is posted, and I double up on the prayers for those having difficulties (we all understand). I'm doing well, still in recovery phase after hysterectomy, but not in so much pain now...actually, the symptoms of the AIH are much harder to deal with than this past surgery. Oh, I did also have another laparoscopy for a liver biopsy by the transplant team in Miami, but haven't heard from them yet. Demerol and Versed were used for conscious sedation, so it was very easy and painless. My son, Danny, has a 16th birthday party today. He wanted to ride go-carts (since he didn't get a car for a present!)...do you think I should join in the fun or act my age and just watch? So many decisions..LOL!!!! My love and prayers to all. God bless you,
Guest guest
.... happy birthday to Danny! Of course you should act your age.... how old do you think you are? I`m about 24.... Again I`m happy your surgery went so well and am praying that your new liver comes soon. btw... I had a birthday of sorts today (April 29) myself..... I celebrated 7 years of sobriety.... God is good.. love and serenity jerry

Guest guest
1) Blood tests for CD often give false negatives. 2) If you haven't been eating gluten, you probably will get a false negative from blood test or endoscopy. 3) CD has highly varied symptoms, and many people with CD are asymptomatic. 4) Many people have more than one food-related problem. Dairy products very often cause difficulties for people with CD, but the source for lactose/casein intolerance often heals after a period of eating GF and avoiding dairy products. H. I signed up to get information on the celiac diet, and hopefully on restaurants and stores that are in the Bay Area. I'm in Livermore. My doctor thinks there is a possibility I could have celiac disease, but it isn't completely clear yet. We did a blood test for it, but that has come out negative. I seem to notice some problems when I eat wheat (or at least a lot of it) but from what I have read so far, I am not sure that my symptoms fit the celiac diagnosis. So I'm not sure what's going on yet! I also have other problems going on with other dietary restrictions. It seems that dairy is a problem, and I have to avoid quite a number of other foods (citrus, vinegar, tomatoes, chocolate - the list goes on). I have gastroparesis, and have to eat pureed, low-fiber, and low-fat food to fit with that diagnosis. Do any of you deal with multiple diagnoses? If so, how do you get it all to fit together? I'm having a tough time getting it all to fit together in terms of diet. Many thanks, **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
- Some good resources in Livermore: * Van's Health Food - lots of primarily GF groceries and a great local place to stock up. Probably will have most of what you need that you can't find in regular grocery stores. * Trader Joe's has many GF items * Fire and Ice on First Street was very accommodating - they asked right up front if anyone had allergies for our party and then did a special for me in the kitchen away from the main grill. * Taqueria Consuelito on Vasco Road has addicting $1 tacos that seem to be safe for me. * Whole Foods in San Ramon and Draeger's Market in Blackhawk have tons of food for you - worth the drive. I especially like Draeger's. Just exit 580 at Tassajara and take it all the way up to Blackhawk, right on Diablo Road, and it's on the right. GF aisle is in the middle, but there's other GF items all around the store. * PF Changs at Stoneridge has a GF menu available (although I'm about done with " Chang's Spicy Chicken " for the rest of my life - can they just get one beef dish on there?) Here's the map for shops and restaurants in the greater Bay Area: http://tinyurl.com/2azzro I myself found that after a year or so of strict gluten-free eating, I could return to eating other foods that I gave me trouble before such as dairy and corn. I am at Sandia so let me know if you have any further questions on local options. Cheers, Joe On Jan 8, 2008 7:24 AM, erinubear2 <UBear@...> wrote: > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > I'm new here. Guest guest
Hi Joe-- Have you spoken with the manager at PF Chang's? Our local Chang's, in Emeryville, will fix just about any item on the regular menu GF. The customer just has to ask or, preferably, call in advance and let them know you're coming and would love GF beef in SF -----Original Message----- From: on behalf of Joe Sent: Tue 1/8/2008 9:29 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Hi from - Some good resources in Livermore: * Van's Health Food - lots of primarily GF groceries and a great local place to stock up. Guest guest
Dear Autonomous2, Thanks for your reply. If it does turn out that I have celiac disease, that would be encouraging if at some later point I could return dairy to my diet. I know some of the other dietary restrictions are permanent, but the combination of all these things together is proving to be exceedingly challenging. Thanks for the info. I'm sure my doctor and I will work on this as time goes on. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi Joe, Thanks so much for the information on local restaurants and stores! I appreciate it very much. I had been to Whole Foods already, and was aware of nice things at Trader Joe's (hooray for it!). I hope to visit Van's soon. Thanks so much for the restaurant recommendations, too! It's all very much appreciated. That's great you've been able to find good places for dining here locally. Very encouraging! Best wishes,
