,Any chance they will source chocolate chips that are GF? I called them yesterday after I consumed the mocha mint frappachino light and the woman informed me that the chocolate chips used in the Java chip frappachio and other fraps with chips have gluten in them. --------------------------------------------------------- A. I thought I would send an e-mail to Starbucks regarding stocking a

few individually-wrapped g-f baked items in their stores, i.e.,

biscotti, cookies, brownies. I told them that there are a lot of

local and national gluten free vendors who would be thrilled to fill

any order Starbucks would require. There is a teeny bit of hope -

we just need to keep giving them pressure. Look at how far we've

come already in the past few years! Here are their responses:

Hello ,

Thank you so much for your suggestion. At this time, the products

we have that are gluten free are the roasted cashews, roasted

almonds, and the fruit and nut. As far as bakery items are

concerned, we do not have any offerings. My family is GF/CF (gluten

free/casein free) and I understand the desire to have those items at

your local store. We are excited to see the GF movement as it

grows, and it is something our company is working on. Please do not

hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

Thanks for your comments! I have passed your comments on to

the "food team" that supports our stores in this area. Although, I

not sure of the future of gluten free products in our stores, I know

we value the input of our loyal customers. Thank you for your loyal

support of my Curtner Avenue store.

As of yet, I have never talked with Starbucks about their chocolate

chips.

I get confused on the whole chocolate chip issue with them, both in

their drinks and ice cream. I just stay away from any Starbucks drink

or ice cream that has chocolate chips in them. I am, however,

addicted to their mocha frappuchio............ :)

The Starbucks chocolate chip controversy (either the Starbucks ice

cream or the Starbucks drink supposedly had gluten-free chocolate

chips) was on various celiac boards for a while. I just decided it

wasn't worth trying to figure it all out, so I stick with my mocha

frappuchino.

I have called Starbucks regarding the mocha frappuchio drink and was

assured it was gluten-free. Now, this is presuming that they aren't

using the same blender container for my drink right after one with

gluten in it, and we all see them just briefly rinse the containers

out in between drinks.

But hooked on them I am.... If they had gluten in them, believe me,

I would have gotten sick way before now because I do have them 2-3

times a week. A few years ago I was a juror on a 7-week trial and

started going to Starbucks on the way to the courthouse in the

morning for a treat. This is how habits and addiction

begins ............. :)
