Guest guest
Great news! Is this the one right by the train station? Please let us know if you have any symptoms later -- and thanks for this great news!!! From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of HersomSent: Wednesday, June 11, 2008 2:06 PM Subject: [ ] Crepes Cafe in Menlo Park, California We just had buckwheat crepes this afternoon at this café, and oh my goodness! They were absolutely delicious! I first heard about this café on a website or group (maybe here?) and wanted to check it out.Their brochure states that the buckwheat mixture is gluten-free. When we first walked in, I was little dismayed to see bits of crumbly flour all around their crepe machines. I was assured the buckwheat mixture only went on the buckwheat crepe maker and the whole wheat mixture went on the whole wheat crepe maker. Their savory crepes are served on buckwheat crepes, and their sweet crepes are usually served on whole wheat crepes. Their website is crepescafe and then .com.After confirming with the cook that the Chicken Dijon sauce had no flour in it, we ordered the Savory Chicken with carmalized onions and added some mushrooms. We also ordered the Sweet Mixed Berry Crepe with whipped cream, but had them put the fruit on the buckwheat crepe instead of the whole wheat crepe. It was absolute heaven! The crepes were soft and delicious! I cannot vouch for any of the other fillings for the crepes, just the ones we enjoyed. So, if you choose to eat at this café, be sure to ask the right questions. As we know, eating out is risky.P.S. If you want me to e-mail you a pdf of the color brochure, I'll be glad to do so. Guest guest
I go to the Crepes Cafe frequently. I asked them long ago about utensils. They are quite aware, but it's always good to remind them. --- " j. hogle " <jjhogle@...> wrote: > Did you ask about cross-contamination with utensils > and surfaces? > > Hogle > Freelance academic librarian > Instructor, online research > Email: jjhogle@... > Web: www.blueroom.com > > > Reality ain't what you think it is > Art Graphics & Photographs > [http://www.blueroom.com/realityaint.htm] > > > > > ----- Original Message ---- > From: D Darcy <ddarcy@...> > > Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2008 2:42:31 PM > Subject: RE: [ ] Crepes Cafe in Menlo > Park, California > > > Great news! Guest guest
To and : The girlfriend that I enjoyed lunch with is also celiac. She is so sensitive to gluten that if she ingests even the tiniest little bit, she, unfortunately, blows up to be 9 months pregnant! We kept looking at her stomach all through lunch and no swelling. She is my own " personal " glutenometer! No, , I did not ask about the utensils and surfaces. I usually do, though. We were so focused on asking our waitress about the ingredients that I didn't even think of asking about that. Good point. If celiacs do go there for a meal, be sure to ask. By the way, we had the usual, spontaneous " requisite " tears of joy while enjoying our meal..... Doesn't get better than that!
