Guest guest
That is terrific! I love Rice Chex. However, do you know if they produce the Rice Chex on the same equipment as other cereals containing gluten, and if so, is the equipment cleaned thoroughly to avoid cross-contamination? I saw this post about Rice Chex being g-f on a celiac board and immediately called General Mills this morning to verify. Yes, yes, yes! Starting February 1, 2008, Rice Chex is now producing their cereal with the magic words "Gluten-Free" right on the box. They reformulated their ingredients to remove the malt flavoring!Just be sure to examine the ingredients on the box you buy to make sure you are buying the newly-formulated cereal and not an old box still on the shelf.Enjoy!Sue No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG. Guest guest
I know that the Rice Chex box will say " gluten free " on the front of the box. I am sure that General Mills would not be putting those wonderful words on the box unless they are certifying it is gluten- free (including all cleaning of equipment to avoid cross- contamination, etc.). However, as always with this insidious disease, everyone has to make their own call as to what they feel comfortable eating. I remember when Trix became gluten-free. After I studied the Trix box in the store for a full 5 minutes because I did not believe it, I bought a box and opened it and ate some of it on the way home from the store! I could not wait! I did the same thing with See's candies when they took flour out on almost all of their candies. I headed right over there and bought a pound of See's candies that I knew were safe. I'm seeing a pattern developing here..... :) Sue > > That is terrific! I love Rice Chex.
