Guest guest
We did eat at Addis Ethiopian last night, and I did not have a reaction to gluten! I ordered a meat dish without injera separate from the combination plate of my gluten-eating friends, but did try the lentil dishes before they were contaminated with bread. No gluten! I did not bother with the collards dish that comes as part of the vegetarian sampler so can't speak to that. The servers both insisted that they don't use flour in anything other than the injera, I think I believe them. The meat dish I had was Awaze Tibs, it was delicious. I did not ask for rice with my dish, but that would be a good plan if they have it (and it's made with only water, not broth...). Next time! If you are extremely sensitive to contamination you might want to avoid Ethiopian in general. While we were there a child at another table kept flopping his injera around on the table, so keep in mind that there might be injera residue everywhere. Of course while we were in Oakland I took the opportunity to finally check out Mariposa, wow do they have tasty things!
