Guest guest
Interesting. FYI: Over the weekend I went to a do-it-yourself beer making store in Concord and picked up the ingredients to make my own brew. The staff there knew all about how to make gf beer and pointed me to a variety of recipes. We'll see how it comes out . . . -----Original Message----- From: on behalf of Wallace Sent: Fri 5/9/2008 11:53 AM Subject: [ ] NBB For my fellow beer drinkers, I just wanted to share the email response I received back from New Belgium. This is the second time I've emailed them. I didn't get a response to the first one I sent a few months back, but here it is. Maybe we can rally another brewery. ________________ " From what our brewers have told me, we have tossed around the idea of doing a gluten free beer at some point, but it's just an idea - we haven't even experimented with it yet. One of our biggest concerns is that in order to produce a gluten free beer, we'd have to use a gluten free grain (like oat, buckwheat, or sorghum), but since our brewing system is designed for handling barley, we don't really know if it would work. Another concern is that many gluten free grains are either unavailable in the amounts we'd need for brewing, or would produce poor flavor for beer. Sorry to disappoint you but unless some significant innovations in barley, technology, or Celiac disease are made, you'll have resist our beer. " Cheers! My favorite homebrew shop, before my diagnosis. Last time I was over there, which was quite a long time ago, they were looking into stocking sorghum malt and had experimented with a few recipes but hadn't had anything good-tasting yet. But those guys are geniuses and I'm pleased to hear that they are able to recommend recipes now. I did see on their website a while back that they were selling white sorghum malt. Here's their product page for the malt: http://morebeer.com/view_product/7471/ The person that finds a good gluten-free IPA recipe should be given an award. -- Joe http://sanbeiji.com/
Guest guest
Hi Fellow Beer drinkers, I'm new to the list so forgive me if this has been mentioned ad nauseum, but I've been enjoying Redbridge GF Beer. And I like Bard's Tale, also GF. It's not a Guinness, but it seems to hit the spot for me. I've also noticed that Green's makes a few brands; Quest, Dubble and Amber. GF awareness is getting around the micro brewing community, but it's always good to get the word out there - there's a market! I've found these brands at Beverages and More and some local " health food " shops. Cheers, cheri..... --- In , " Wallace " <AWallace@...> wrote: > > For my fellow beer drinkers, I just wanted to share the email response I > received back from New Belgium.
