Guest guest
Well I love this Dr. He has been my gastro Doc for about 5 years now.If you are very worried about the biopsy you can ask him to make sure you are knocked out completely. Or you can be in that twlightly state and can look at the procedure.Hardest part is swallowing the tube. If your gag reflex is high you need to make sure that you relax. If no big deal then the procedure is easy.Personally - I like the knock out drugs. Nothing like getting stoned legally. But that's just me.Melita----- Original Message ----From: oliwill <andrea@...> Sent: Wednesday, July 2, 2008 11:49:14 AMSubject: [ ] Biopsy I am going in to get a biopsy done next Tuesday by Dr. Aron (San Francisco)to check for celiac and was wondering if anyone had any words of widsom. Guest guest
I had very little problems with the biopsy. I do have a low gag reflex but they had a spray that they squirted in my mouth a couple of times and that reduced the problem. Make sure to have someone with you to drive you home. Even though you are not sedated for it you probably will be weak, mostly from the stress. It is not bad at all. Just be calm and relaxed and it will be easy. Guest guest
Yes, I do have some words of wisdom (ha, ha)! The day I had my endoscopy done at Stanford, my husband informed me that he could not escort me to and from the procedure because his secretary had accidentally scheduled what had been blocked off for me. (##@! & ##). Thinking I could take a taxi to my hotel and stay there for the night, I checked in alone. They would not allow me to have the anesthetic without my husband present. So, I did it without anesthetic. Once I got through the emotional upset of the situation with my husband, I faced the procedure bravely. I could have rescheduled, but I had come from a distance, paid for a night in a hotel, and didn't want to repeat. Even without anesthetic, it wasn't bad. I did see the doctor sweating, though! I'd recommend the spouse or escort and the anesthetic, though! Karie > > I had very little problems with the biopsy.
