Guest guest
I don't even remember the biiopsy! I do remember chatting with the doctor beforehand and then the next thing I knew, I was being wheeled out to the recovery area. I wasn't given anything but gas -- but obviously enough of it to allow me to fall asleep quickly and soundly! When I awoke, I actually felt refreshed, and didn't experience any pain or discomfort at all. I took it easy the rest of the day because that is what they advised me to do, my husband had already taken the day off of work, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get to lie around reading books all day while someone else watched our two kids! I think that having had the biopsy really helps to keep me on the straight and narrow in terms of the gf diet. If I were just going on a hypothetical or just the blood test, it might be easier for me to tell myself I didn't have celiac disease. The biopsy really drove home the significance of it for me. For the person asking about testing after being on a gf diet -- you should ask a gi doc if it's likely that being on that diet for just a couple of months is enough to have healed your intestine to the point a biopsy would be negative for celiac. From what I understand, it can take a lot longer than that. And my doctor has told me it could take a year or longer for the antibodies (blood) test to show negative. So maybe you could at least start with the blood test? If it's still positive, maybe there's a higher chance your biospy will be accurate? Good luck!**************Gas prices getting you down? Guest guest
Thank you for all your responses. My blood tests came back negative but I do have the genes. Also lots of symptoms. So, according to the doctor – he has seen other people like me and those who don’t even have symptoms come back positive in the biopsy so I guess it is worth it. Thanks again From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of TrVerb@... Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2008 12:05 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Re:Biopsy & testing question I don't even remember the biiopsy!
