Guest guest
For my fellow beer drinkers, I just wanted to share the email response I received back from New Belgium. This is the second time I’ve emailed them. I didn’t get a response to the first one I sent a few months back, but here it is. Maybe we can rally another brewery. ________________ “From what our brewers have told me, we have tossed around the idea of doing a gluten free beer at some point, but it's just an idea - we haven't even experimented with it yet. One of our biggest concerns is that in order to produce a gluten free beer, we'd have to use a gluten free grain (like oat, buckwheat, or sorghum), but since our brewing system is designed for handling barley, we don't really know if it would work. Another concern is that many gluten free grains are either unavailable in the amounts we'd need for brewing, or would produce poor flavor for beer. Sorry to disappoint you but unless some significant innovations in barley, technology, or Celiac disease are made, you'll have resist our beer.” Cheers!
